HAMS N COFFEE---SPECIAL EVENT

I have talked to CCARC (Capital City Amateur Radio Club-Helena) and set-up a SPECIAL EVENT for us (GHRC) to have a coffee Meet N Greet.? April 26 from 9-noon @ Wheat Montana.? Address: 10778 US Highway 287, Three Forks, MT 59752-9518.? Hopefully the weather cooperates and keeps the roads open and clear.? This will be a great opportunity to drive a little, get out of town and meet up with other Southwest Montana hams.? This event is open to all hams, their spouses and the ham curious!? Hope to see you all on April 26th at Wheat Montana!

*This is a one time event.? Hams N Coffee @ Cafe M-Belgrade will continue on the following Saturday-May 3rd (every Saturday).

NVIS can be a very useful mode for our kind of territory; paths that are
too long or too obstructed with mountains for V/UHF, and too short for
traditional HF skip propagation.

Wyoming is trying a NVIS day for the first time on May 10. Information

Hello neighboring ARES organizations.? WY-ARES is trying a new event for
us on May 10th; NVIS Day. This is an idea that we borrowed from the Ohio
Section and we are going to give it a spin for 2025.
?
Our goals are twofold: get our operators out and active, and gain some
added experience with our NVIS setups and maybe try some new ones.
?
Since some of each of your Sections fall within the NVIS range of
Wyoming, I would like to invite your ARES groups, or any amateurs, to
join in with us on the 10th.? You can find the details at:

This is our first attempt at this event, we are hopeful to have a good
turnout, and we welcome suggestions on how to improve the event.

Any assistance that you would be willing to provide advertising our
event would be greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to recap some information from the GHRC meeting.?
Marla Unruh (KM7LIB) is the newsletter editor for the Capital City Amateur Radio Club in Helena.? She has kindly offered to take news from our club and put it in the newsletter.? Carving out an area/column for GHRC news.? What our club has lacked is a Newsletter. ? This is an amazing opportunity for our club to be involved in a newsletter where our members can report on anything ham related that they are working on or information you would like to share with others in the southwest Montana ham radio community.? I have many of your emails and I have made a list from the 2024 members and have given Marla your emails.? The March newsletter should be out by the end of this weekend so if you have not received the newsletter in your email and would like to receive the newsletter--please reach out to me so I can get you on the email list.

Folks- 7QP Contest is in one month. Hoping some of us have the capability of activating some of those rare counties. There are lots of them in MT. Attached is a well done ad done by our fellow contesters in Utah. I figured why re-invent the wheel? Just substitute MT stuff where UT stuff appears, and, you get the idea... ? Summer Plan for W7YB (MSU) Station 2025
Caroline K7AJB, Net Controller for Mondays at 8:30 p.m., reported this (8/24/2025) evening that roof repair is expected this summer at Cobleigh Hall. Radio antennas will be taken down. W7YB will be, it is predicted, off the air for most of, if not for, the entire Summer 2025.
