Re: GHRC Outreach
Good idea Robin! I think we will start a discussion with the club at the next meeting and make a punch list for groups?we should reach out to. The grant money we received does indicate that we need to start with Scouts, but then we can go from there, so some of this outreach may need to come out of club funds. Keep the ideas coming, though! Really appreciate everyone's support here. Spencer - KJ7SSS On Sun, Dec 15, 2024 at 7:36?AM Robin KJ7VVo via <robinwilliams=[email protected]> wrote:

Equipment for sale
Hi gang: Am reluctantly going to sell my HQ140x while I can still get my old friend up the stairs and out of the basement as it is a true boat anchor. I am about thirteen years older than the radio. The unit is cosmetically in very good to exceptional condition on the outside and very good on the inside. All the dark maroon knobs match and the tuning is gear driven, no dial cord! Sn 697 so it was likely built in 1953. It works fine but in the interest of full disclosure the band switch needs cleaning and the unit would benefit from an alignment. Radio is very stable after a brief warm up, see the Eham reviews under amateur receivers. Asking $175 as that is at or below the low end market price from what i see. Would consider trade for something lighter like a HQ100a, HQ110a, HQ170 ,HQ180, DrakeR4B, Hallicrafters of some flavor or ? with some cash added either way +/-. Need something to go with the DX60b. Will be listing on QTH.com but thought I would try local first as the shipping will be outlandish at close to $150. The radio is a true classic and one of the finest of its era. If interested can send pictures by cell phone. 73"s David |

Hello all, At the last meeting outreach for recruiting new hams was discussed. A couple of thoughts. In the past we would use some of the funds from GHRC to buy a new set of ARRL study and operating books for the Bozeman Public Library as a donation. Generally we would replace the books every two years. I believe that the ARRL has a package price for a set. It might have been $200.00. Another idea is the science school down by the Mall has shown and interest in setting up a station there. Neil KL7JGS |

MSU's W7YB Monday Simplex Meetings and Repeater Net Meetings Since Beginning of the Fall Semester 2024
Perhaps someone else has been recently successful in joining MSU's amateur radio frequencies!
My last contact was in April 2024. I emailed W7YB Radio Club <w7yb.msu@...> at the end of September 2024, asking if they were meeting by radio, but I did not receive a response.?
MSU's previous W7YB Simplex Net on Mondays at 8:30 p.m. FM 145.000, 146.000, and 147.00 (145.125 backup).
MSU's previous W7YB Repeater Net on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. FM (offset minus 5.00 MHz) 442.700 transmit and 447.700 (PL tone 77 Hz).
MSU's previous W7YB Repeater Rag Chew on Saturdays at 2:26 p.m. (same settings as on Thursdays).
To confirm that I have not made a contact since then, I attempted again tonight, 12/9/2024 (Monday).

Eaglehead Repeater Association
Hello all,
As we get close to 2025 it's time to solicit donations for the Eaglehead Repeater Association (ERA). The amount suggested is $30.00. Everyone that donates for the year becomes a voting member of ERA for that year. Contributing members can also hold a board position. ERA is? a IRS 501(C3) so all donations are tax deductible. There is some misunderstanding of the role that ERA plays in the local repeater systems. ERA is a separate entity from GHRC and MARLA and has a separate budget. ERA is responsible for the maintenance of the repeaters that it owns. Those repeaters are the Bridger Ridge 146.88, the Buck ridge 146.82, the West Yellowstone 146.720, MSU Cobleigh Hall 447.700 and all of the linking radios between the sites. ERA also holds the USFS permit for the Buck Ridge radio site and is a member of the Bridger Ridge Radio Users Group.? All donations go to purchase parts for the repeaters and pay other expenses as they come due. These expenses normally are liability insurance, site insurance for Buck Ridge and Bridger Ridge and site rent for Bridger Ridge. Expenditures normally run about $2000.00 a year. Currently in the bank we have $2645.27. Three years ago we has an equipment donation from the family of a silent key that was sold and that netted us about $3000.00. That helped keep us in the red until now with the additional yearly dues collected. I'll cover ERA and explain more about it and it's role at the January GHRC meeting. There are 4 current board members. They are Harley Leach (KI7XF) President, Neil Ramhorst (KL7JGS) Treasurer, Norm Reger (KD7TQM) Secretary, and Todd Gahagan (WA7U), the at large member appointed from GHRC membership. Board members hold a three year rotating appointment with one member replaced every year. Donations can be made the following ways: PayPal through GHRC the web site, Direct through the PayPal Web Site. Search for Eaglehead Repeater Association Send a check to the shared ERA-GHRC PO Box 4381 59772 At the GHRC monthly meeting. I'll be acknowledging members as they donate here on the reflector. Thanks, Neil Ramhorst KL7JGS |
