December 5, 2024 - GHRC Meeting
73 to all There will not be a program for December but the time will be used for election of officers and the regular club meeting. I think there will also be discussion of the Grant that was recently approved which is absolutely great.? Also - Want to let whoever takes over as Vice President that I have?a list of programs with some dates that I was able to schedule for the last 3 years which I will have at the club meeting.? Also want to thank Norm, Todd, and Neil for the initial help and encouragement they gave me when I started to get programs together for the club as well as through the last 3 years.? They provided invaluable direction to what programs had been done recently and programs that would be of interest to the club.? They also contacted individuals for programs too.? Thanks again so so much.? Also thanks to the many club members that did programs for the club (Spencer, Mark, Harley, Gary, and to others that I have missed I apologize).? Harley has done a bunch such as the enigma machine which was fascinating, answering questions on the repeaters as well as a second program on where repeaters are located and how they are linked, use of directional finding antennas, directional antenna building, and many many fox hunts.? This is just to name a few.? Thanks again to all.? Much appreciated.? As always the meeting starts at 1900 MST at the SAR Building.? December Elections
Hello all, I am officially submitting my candidacy for President of the Gallatin Ham Radio Club. Having served as Secretary since 2021, I¡¯d like to highlight a few key points ahead of the upcoming election. As many of you know, my wife and I are house-hunting across the country, with plans to relocate by next summer. If elected President, there is a chance I may not be able to attend meetings and events in person after that time. However, I will make a special effort to be present for Summer Field Day. Our use of Zoom has been a great asset to the club, and I intend to stay actively involved, even remotely. With this in mind, my tenure as President would be for 2025 only. I want to be transparent about this commitment and am more than willing to support anyone interested in leading the GHRC from 2026 onward. During my time with the club, I¡¯ve observed an increase in membership and a desire among members to contribute, though not necessarily in leadership roles. I propose creating two new committees¡ªOutreach/Fundraising and Field Day¡ªthat would provide more structured opportunities for member involvement while also easing the leadership¡¯s workload.
In addition, I¡¯ll continue to compile detailed information on our current repeater system, as mentioned in a previous Groups.io post. For a 2025 Winter Field Day dates and times should be revised, do you agree?, to:

Winter Field Day Poll
Good afternoon all,

I just posted a poll regarding Winter Field Day for 2025. If there is enough interest, I would propose that we reach out to Headwaters State Park and see if we can stay there like we did 2 years ago. We will need to fill out a special event form and let the ranger know how many people will be participating and/or camping. There will be a fee ($15/night if I remember right) for campers.

If there is enough interest, I am happy to utilize my radio as the club station. Not sure I want to drag the club trailer or try driving t-stakes into the ground in January :). I have a wall tent and a stove, so it'll be at least above freezing!
?
Please respond to the poll, I'll send out some updates over the next couple of weeks so we can get a good idea if this is something we would like to pursue.
