Do we want to open up the remote for digital
Other than backing off the KPA1500 power,?what do we need or do?

Just set up guidelines for the users to properly share a valuable resource. KPA1500 will work very well. QSOs are sequenced by the software. Stations that are connected but not controlling will be able to 100% decode whatever the control operator decodes.

Oh God please no FT8! Let's just have robots make QSOs for us. Guys will sit on the remote for hours as their PC makes QSOs and they eat lunch or whatever.

?I guess that tells you how I feel about it.

My aversion to digital modes has changed as I lost most of my hearing. At one time people were opposed to SSB because it was something new.? I vote in favor to allow? those who want to use it.? The folks who are CW only can still be CW only.? Opening the remote to digital modes doesnt require you to use them.?

You can say "over", you can say "out", you just can't say "over and out".

The Westside Project

Are we only using FT*8 for digital at the moment or can we still use psk-31 or cw? I'm in a quandry right now where I don't have a mic for my computer and due to corona and work slowdowns, I am just scraping by month to month. So naturally getting a mic is not in my foreseeable future. Also in looking into it there is a really bad availability of electronics in the stores right now. Any mic I were to order would be a 2 to 3-week ship to here That eliminates phone operation for me entirely. I listened to some CW on the remote and the terminal window on the remote did not copy it very well at all. As far as ft-8 goes and someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I may be confused with another mode but I thought that FT-8 requires a precise timing sequence between stations to work properly. I was thinking that the lag time from the remote (radio) to the user would throw that off? I have been out of the game for the past 3 or 4 years so I have a lot of relearning to do. Thanks All.

I think we can support all digital modes the software allows

Although I am working FT8 - I use it nearly on 6m only ...

I agree with Robert - people will sit at their computer and block W7DXX for hours
while having lunch or watching TV ...

My vote is against FT8.

Second:
In the last 24 month W7DXX did not even handle a 24/7 remote on shortwave.
Why think about satellite, EME, FT8 - whatever ??
That causes work, cost and even more trouble, it is not something you have just as addition,
you have to work on it constantly.

So - also NO - concentrate on the basics.

And this is to have the station up and running 24/7 without issues. My opinion. Period.
