Many Thanks
Just want to give a big thanks to Keith and everyone else who have worked so hard on the remote.? I spent a little time running FT8 just now, had a mini-JA pileup on 10, operated on several bands, and ended with VP8.? I'm gonna have to jump back on cw, but it's hard for me to find a new on fone or cw, but almost everything's a new one for me on FT8.? Tnx es 73! NI5W |
Hey Greg - thanks for the nice report.? Good to know that the work is paying off :) Also - saw you on 15 meters earlier in the day running FT8 once again with perfect metrics and a squeaky clean signal.? Now this is interesting as I spent and continue to spend a lot of time (behind the scenes) making sure that the levels on the remote are properly set - and - they are or at least were unless someone else has changed them - yet we have some ops using FT8 who seemingly have lots of trouble getting their software properly set up to have the quality of signal that the remote is capable of.? I'm sort of guessing that you are not using some "ancillary" software (un-named) which seems to be the downfall for most of our ops using FT8 with severe overloads when transmitting. All that said - would you be willing to post to the group just what you are using and how you have it set for FT8?? It might be very useful to others who are struggling to get it "right." Thanks again and congrats on your successes.? '73 es gud dxing -- Don N4HH

Thanks I've been meaning to write up all my settings so that I could keep track of them.? Even after? reading everything I could get my hands on I wasn't able to make things work until Brian - KA9ONW spent time with me on the phone to walk through all the settings he uses.? I realize I'd better document them all in case I need to go through and reset them.? I'll put all that together and anyone interested look it over (and hopefully mention some things I might still need to tweak). I run everything on Windows 10.? I'm not sure how well the things I do from that system to translate to those operating from a different system. The main things that seems to help with avoiding ALC while transmitting are:
Anyway, I'm going to document everything I'm doing and send it to the list.? Hopefully other folks can add to stuff they find to work well. 73 NI5W On Fri, Jan 14, 2022 at 8:42 PM Don Nesbitt via <n4hh=[email protected]> wrote:
