Totally Off Topic - but - FYI
Hi All This post relates to my experience with the 3rd COVID (Booster) shot.
Please feel free to stop reading and return to your normal
broadcasting;) Yesterday (Tuesday Sept
7) I received my 3rd shot of the Moderna Vaccine at about 10 am.? Yes,
being in the "vulnerable"? group, this was right on schedule. The
Moderna shot was administered at a large CVS on Peachtree St here in Atlanta and it went
very smoothly.? My two previous shots were also of the Moderna vaccine
and also went without a hitch - a little "latent" soreness at the
injection site but no following reaction or symptoms - a "walk in the
park." Not this time!? Most of the day was uneventful. I'm thinking it's another walk in the park - but around 8pm I started to crash.?
I don't know how to describe the reaction(s) but it "kicked my ass" big
time - I can't remember ever being this sick - and throughout the night
I experienced some of the following:
all
pretty much at the same time - or at least what I can remember :( -? Severe headache - behind my eyes, temples, down the back of the neck and into the shoulders -? Severe? muscle and joint pain and aches all over my body. -? Severe chills and shivering. -? The feeling of being "hot"? but without an abnormal temperature - mine usually runs about 97.6 and that is what I measured. -? Totally "stuffed up" with some breathing difficulty - like you had a really bad cold that included your lungs. -? Bloating or "fullness" in the stomach but no nauseousness. -? Dizziness to
the point of not being able to get out of bed or walk without hanging
on to something - extreme "unbalance" and some "spaciness." -? An elevated pounding heart-rate - running over 110 bpm all night and sometimes spiking at 125 bpm - - today, at about 8pm
- after slowly declining all day - this has pretty much returned to normal which for me is about 60 bpm +- when resting. I
actually went to sleep at about 8 am this morning? and
finally
got out of bed around 4:30 pm.? At? 4:30 I was feeling much better -
almost all the symptoms were gone except for a mild lingering headache
which I still have.? I can tell you that if what I experienced is even
somewhat what it is like to actually have a real case of COVID,? it is
totally unbelievably devastating - you really don't want to get this! It's now almost 9 pm and I'm pretty much back to my normal self :)) TAKEAWAY Remember - I got the Moderna shot(s) and everyone will have different physical reactions regardless of the vaccine provider. BUT -
if, or rather when, you are going to get the "booster" shot be sure to
schedule it when you have nothing pressing or even on the calendar for
the next day or two - just in case you have a reaction like I did - and I sincerely hope you do not! / '73 es gud Dxing - - Don? N4HH |
Don, The immunization is working as it is supposed to. I had a similar experience after the second Moderna. I have to wait for the third for another 10 days or so, though I am the caretaker of someone who is severely medically immunocompromised. She got Moderna #3 two days ago with no reaction, at this time. Should you have any other reactions, please contact your health care provider. --- Ciao baby, catch you on the flip side 73 de W3AB/GEO WA2LSI, KE6RJW, W7B, AAR9AG http://www.w3ab.org You can say "over", you can say "out", you just can't say "over and out".

I have read that Moderna decided on a much more potent dose than Pfizer.? Not sure why, it was a technical decision.? In any case Don you should now be really safe...They say that the 3rd shot gives the ultimate in protection.? As a scientist, I am glad to see that you have been fully vaccinated but sorry for the side effects...And yes if you had actually contracted COVID it would have been worse. 73 Dale - N3BNA

Interesting Don's Covid response.? I almost had the opposite concern after two??Pfizer shots - I felt nothing and was concerned it didn't work!? ? Other than age I have no underlying problems but will get the 3rd when available for old folks.? Almost want some slight reaction to know it did something, but not Dons!!!
Am going to Toronto next week for 10 days so have to get a rapid test within 72 hours of departing flight. They even give test at Pheonix airport but my flight leaves before they open so may go on a separate trip to airport Sunday.? They hand you a report in 30-60 minutes so don't have to worry about other places that have to upload etc. Also, have to put vaccine and test info on ArriveCan site and American Airlines has a similar site also want you to upload both two so lots to do.? Leave Tuesday so give me an extra day in case anything goes wrong and is good till 72 hrs later on Wed.? I have been a hermit and always wear an N95 mask when about my only out-of-home trip is to the grocery store - so hopefully no virus!! |
Your side effects are somewhat extreme but you're covered. Moderna is like a nuclear power?mRNA vaccine?over Pfizer.
