Our DX Contest

Folks,
I think interest in our DX contest has faded and I've been wondering what new activity might interest you and possibly motivate others to join us.. If we can come up with a neat idea we can promote it on a new quarter page ad in CQ magazine.?
I am working on getting our supporters Elecraft, MFJ, DX Engineering, CQ Magazine, and SteppIR, to offer discounts to our members.
We may also soon announce a project we have been working on to get ham radio clubs involved.?

Vic,

Thank you and you are most welcome.? I cannot figure out either why we have such light user usage.

Hello Keith
Thank for all the hard work and expense in setting up your Remote Station . I Appreciate the effort put forth by YOU and possible your helpers.
?
I have had good success in working a few DX stations in the last few days ...
Happy to see V51WW active and log WYNAND again .!!
The system seems easy to understand and operate.
?
Today 20 meter band? for DX was very marginal , maybe the reason why only a few W7DXX? USERS connected - have only seen? 4 different callsigns ??
?
Glad you are pleased with the Phased Verticals, I did work a couple DX stations using the verticals.
?
Thank again for the opportunity? to Use the Station.

John,

As the subject sez, "Just do it".? =!8^}

Get a burner droid, or a cheap used one. You don't have to have telco service to make it work. It works on WiFi just fine. Plus you can use your iphone to make a hot spot? for the droid WiFi if there is no WiFi.

Re: Drop out

George I finally?got around to loading v9 on remote hams and have noticed the latency is much better. Normally on v8 (and I think I was actually using an older version of 8), the norm was .6 but on v9 it seems to be around .3 to .4. You were mentioning speeds. I read something about "buffer bloat" that affects gamers, and I assumed (maybe incorrectly so?) that it would affect this type thing as well. But I never really could quite figure out how to improve this mysterious buffer bloat. I'm sure some of you guys know about this thing.

Glad you got the JR2. I'm new to W7DXX remote, so looking forward to using it. Playing around with a borrowed K3 mini too. Just hooked it up a couple days ago but got busy with other stuff. Can't get the paddles to work yet.

Welcome to our new subscribers

We now have the 40 meter directional Vertical Phased array on line and it is working very well.
I will soon give you non-directional coverage of 80 and 60 meters? This means you will have 80-6 meters covearge with 1500 watts

I had mentioned that I will be writing some articles for CQ Magazine. I would appreciate a sentence or two from each of you describing your experiences on the remote.? Don't forget to include your call and QTH.
Finally, this groups.io system has lots of valuable tools for you to use.? Enjoy it and the remote.

Drop out

Just worked a JR2on 20m? but had several dropouts and had to log back in several times.?? Fortunately he was a very patient op and I eventually completed the contact successfully.? Just wanted to let you know in case you were unaware of internet problems.?? My delay was .22.
