Roger, W8RJ, is the expert RCForb guy.? I think it is he, rather than Brandon, doing the updates.

Yes - several years ago Keith and I tried this - and yes, it does require a WinKeyer at the remote and at home. Now, the question is - did it work? Yes, it did "sort of" work - both with the WK remote software as well as integrated into N1MM. Now you're wondering just why didn't we keep it - simple answer - it was a "single user" solution in a multiple user arena. Keith probably still has the WinKeyer.

We even considered a second installation computer with the WinKeyer attached to it - again, it was a single user solution. We actually never did try that. Even with that type of solution, you are still at the whim and caprice of the internet.

I know all this sounds discouraging - perhaps you could pursue it - or - perhaps we could contract with Brandon to do so - anything is possible and certainly could be explored.

Certainly would be nice to be able to use a paddle or straight key at home - without all the inherent delay that drives one (well, me) nuts. I've tried with myMini as well as my ORB box - finally said Uncle and just rolled over and use the Client function keys as well as KY programmed Function Keys in N1MM.

I use a k3s/rcforb ?and when the remote is normal ( about .3 sec. delay) the paddle works fine… the monitor from the remote is not heard until I stop sending and then hear a dit or two. If you have seconds of delay (it happens sometimes) everything will be screwed-up … tuning delay… The delay has to do with the internet … sometimes if you stay connected it settles down…?? bottom line is that I use the remote on cw a lot, hate the keyboard, and only use the paddle….Also use n1mm, but that needs ky commands for messages which is a bit of a pain.

I have tried to use a paddle on Remote Hams and my advice would be don't bother. I have a K3/0 Mini and I have tried the ORB control rig too. The delay will drive you nuts. You will be sending and hearing different letters coming back from 3-4 seconds ago delayed.? It's not my internet speed?because i have?Fios Gigabit connection that blows away what I used to have from Comcast. It's a remote hams?issue. It's very disappointing and my main disappointment about remote hams.?

New Mexico QSO Party -- Saturday, April 11
From: Brian Mileshosky, N5ZGT
Date: Tue, 24 Mar 2020 20:35:25 PDT

?

Greetings

?

The 2020 New Mexico QSO Party, scheduled to happen in just about two weeks, is still a?GO. ?There are a number of options to participate safely and enjoyably while the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, and we?hope this event?serves as a positive outlet for relief and enjoyment during these challenging times.

?

All hams across New Mexico are invited to hit the airwaves on Saturday, April 11 from 8:00am MDT until 8:00pm MDT. ?Amateur radio operators from across the United States -- and the world -- will be seeking New Mexicans on HF, 6 meters, and 2 meters during the event period,?looking particularly to work hams in as many New Mexico counties as possible. ?The Land of Enchantment will essentially be the "DX" on this day, making for a?great time for all who participate. ?Last year hundreds of amateur radio operators around the world participated, including 89 New Mexico hams and 14 New?Mexico amateur radio clubs.

We are looking for hams
like yourself! within each and every one of New Mexico's 33 counties to participate in the 2020 New Mexico QSO Party, whether for just a few?convenient hours or for the entire event.

This is a super event for new and experienced hams alike. Operate from the comfort of your home. Hit the road as a mobile station and activate multiple counties which create much needed -- and appreciated -- point
?multipliers for everyone who participates in the QSO Party. ?Use this event as an opportunity to introduce a family member to ham radio. ?Or try setting up, Field Day style, as part of the special expedition category.

ATTENTION HAM CLUBS:?The New Mexico QSO Party is a superb club-building activity, and there are two special awards available just for clubs. ?The first is a?plaque that will be awarded to the New Mexico club with the highest aggregate score submitted by its members. Another plaque will be awarded to the New?Mexico Club whose members activate the highest aggregate number of New Mexico counties around the state. It doesn't matter what operating category your?members participate in, or for how long; each entrant just needs to clearly mark their club name in their individual logs and your club will be automatically entered.?Complete details in the New Mexico QSO Party rules.

This year's event is hosted by the Rocky Mountain Ham Radio, New Mexico.
?Great-looking plaques will be awarded and participation certificates will be available for those?desiring one. ?Complete details, rules, prize information, and more can be found on the New Mexico QSO Party website at?

Are you planning to get on the air and operate from your home shack, as a mobile, or portable? ?Even if tentative at this point, please visit??and let us know what county (or counties) you plan to operate from so we can list you on the NM QSO Party websites activation table and interactive map. ?Our goal is to have as many hams as possible operating from?all?of New Mexico counties during the event.

Please help spread the word about the 2020 New Mexico QSO Party.
?With your help we look forward to all 33 counties being activated this year. ?See you on the?air in a couple weeks!
