Hello Everyone, Tomorrow is our weekly Winlink net. This week's activity will be checking in via P2P if you are able. If you are not, check in as usual. Make sure your message type is set to P2P Winlink when you compose it. Check in with either the standard check-in form or with the standard 1-line check-in format. Make sure the message is addressed directly to the station you are connecting to (so not W0NE). So far we have 2 stations accepting P2P Check-ins: KU0HN on VHF packet on 145.670 KU0HN on VARA-FM on 145.670 KU0HN on VARA HF, (40 meters) dial frequency 7.1013 MHz W9GM on VHF Packet on 145.030 Both W9GM and KU0HN are also available by digipeating via W0NE-7 (VHF Packet only) if you don't have a direct connection. W0NE Winlink Net Reminder - 1-23-2025
Hello Everyone, I hope everyone was able to stay warm this past weekend. Tomorrow is our weekly net. The exercise this week will be to send an image attachment. Send the message to W0NE@... with the typical check-in text, then attach an image of your choice. Probably the biggest challenge with this exercise will be to reduce the size of the image to something that can be reasonably sent over the air. The Winlink system caps attachment size at 120kb which can be a bit small when dealing with Images. If you happen to be on Windows and using Winlink Express, there is a built-in image editor that can help cut the size down. There is a video tutorial available here: https://winlink.org/content/winlink_express_picture_editor_video_how_to If you are on another platform, there are lots of tools around to do this. I tend to favor Gimp or Imagemagik on Linux. Usually I crop zealously, then reduce the color space and resolution until I am happy with the image and it is less than 120k. For Windows users I have heard of people using Cesium to resize images as well, but that's not something I have done personally.
