W0NE Winlink Net Roster - Week #3
We had 12 check-ins this week with a few comments.? If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to share.
Since we didn't do the usual check-in format in the check-in form I'm going to just list the callsign and any comments. Here is this week's roster: KF0S - Eric - First time using forms and the UI in PAT. Good additional small item for me to learn this week.? Using Telnet as I haven't tried hooking my computer to one of my radios again. New hardware, different OS, and lack of time from when I did this is the past. I do have access to a D700 and also a MFJ TNC connected to an older ICOM mobile I had set up long ago. I do believe I have a USB-Serial dongle that should work.? KC9LLI - Bruce KF9CP - Paul KD9KGQ - Shawn KD9POL - Rodney KD9CZM - Chris -?Trying over HF. What are good gateways to choose from??? KD9GVS - Rick W9GM - Ken? K0GMK - Mark K0WLO - Wayne - Telnet only because not usually near a shack on Thursdays?? KE0EXE - Bob - Running Winlink on PC because do not know yet how to use HF radio to send to a node.? Also not yet easy to hook up good HF antenna.? Do have good, local, 2m FM capability and a laptop in Shack; "acoustic" is my only, viable coupling-means, for now.?? Eric,? If you get the time to work on the setup and need help let me know.? I've been running Pat for a few years now. Chris, Are you running PAT or Winlink Express?? Winlink Express has built in propagation forecasts that I have found are very useful for finding an HF gateway.? I typically use PAT which doesn't have this feature.? Here are some of the gateways I use regularly.? Of course success will vary with antennas, solar conditions, time of day, etc... so it's something you just have to get a feel for. 80 meters, day time:? N0LCR-1, NU9R, K0SI 40 meters: K0SI, K9BBS, WD5EED, KD0SFY 20 meters: KD0SFY I see Ken has been using?VA3EOA for the past few check-ins so that might be a good option to try as well.? If anyone has any favorite HF gateways, feel free to share. Bob, what radios are you running?? Maybe someone will have a good suggestion on an interface for your VHF radio. 73 and see you all next week. Ben - KU0HN |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýFor VHF, I¡¯m using a Yaesu FT-2500M [2m radio], if anyone knows a way to connect it to a Windows 10 Pro or Windows xp Pro laptop, for using Winlink Express (or another method?)¡ -Bob KE0EXE On Oct 13, 2023, at 21:27, Ben Kuhn via groups.io <ku0hn@...> wrote:
