Attila #3344 Hi James, Well three main thing was modified. First I had to put more aluminium to the crucible, to fill it really up. If the alu. is to few the cooling of the crucible is so effective the alu. won't evaporat just melt. The second thing is the emitter assembly. I rised up the distance between the chathode and the anode, and the anode edge was 0,1mm lowered to cover a bit more the beam former. Suddenly the focus was better and the wings of the beam spot eliminated. The third is got better vacuum 1x10-4 torr, but it is still not enough to operate the gun without sparking. Later when I will build the another power supply (10Kv 600mA; 6Kw), I really need the 1x10-5 or better. At that last run the beam power was about 800W(4200V 200mA).
