Diffusion pump paralell operation

Hi Everyone,

Does anybody experience how it is possible to operate paralell two identical dissusion pump?
I need greater pumping speed.
If I put them paralell and they are identical the pumping speed would be the double too?

I have two 8¡± diff pumps ( about 1 kw each ) and they do indeed double the pumping speed.? I have a backing mechanical pump on each.? You will need that also.? It is the backing pump that is the limiting factor.?

?

Note that one of my diff pumps has a slight leak in it.? I have been hunting it for years now.? At the point where the leak matches the pumps rate, I have to take that pump off-line ( isolated ) or the leak simply overpowers the other diff pump.? I suggest you keep the pumps on gate valves so you can isolate them independently.?

Andrew,

Your diffussion pumps has an individual connection pipe to the chamber, or somewhere they join to one pipe which connects to the chamber.

I ask this because I have no possibility to connenct them individually just through one pipe. And underneat somewhere make an Y or T to joint them.

Each is hung off the chamber separately with a gate valve that isolates it from the chamber.

?

This is a very useful arrangement.? ??Look under Drew in sunny Florida pictures section
