Hi VAC Families, My daughter Jackie, a VAC freshman, is on a County Advisory Committee for the Wheaton Art & Entertainment District, as their youth representative. She wants to do a good job of representing youth when they ask her for that perspective, so she created a survey for students to give input that may be helpful as they develop the plan. This plan will help to guide the A&E district for years to come. Could you do her a favor, and ask your VAC kid to take a few minutes to fill this out - and, also, to share it with their artsy friends - theater, band, dance, etc. (and/or, you share it with parents of artsy friends?) Please also feel free to fill it out from your own perspective - just put "VAC parent" or "PACE parent" in the field that says "Grade." This survey is for any student/any Wheaton-area school or grade level, but especially students who are interested in arts and entertainment. Hi Families, we are new to the VAC and I know the teachers are probably the best source for this, but I didn't want to bother them with something I should probably already know. I am trying to find some program information about the 4 years of VAC--although I can see her quarterly assignments on Canvas, I can't find a syllabus that sets out what they are learning this year, or what the next 3 years' program looks like. Can a more experienced family help direct me to the resources that are probably online somewhere? I can only find the VAC application website. thank you, Jennifer

Hi Families, Thanks to everyone who attended last night’s parent social at Karlee’s deli and market. Thanks to those who donated to the raffle that Karlee so kindly donated to us! Congratulations to the winner Lauren Hersh!! We had a great crowd of parents! Due this, Karlee donated 15 % of her proceeds for the day instead of 10% that she previously stated! We made $322.00 from Karlee’s Deli and another $484.22 from the raffle! That’s a total of $806.22 going to the VAC! Thanks for supporting our kids! This year’s Reflections program is underway! Each year, students are invited to create and submit original works of art in the areas of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts. These works of art may be submitted for state and national level awards and recognition opportunities. Hi VAC families! Please join me this weekend at the Bethesda Row Arts festival! I'll be showing my layered paper and painted plywood artworks in BOOTH B22 on Bethesda Ave (near William-Sonoma / Lululemon.) The Bethesda Row Arts Festival is one of the leading fine arts and craft festivals in the mid-Atlantic, featuring juried museum-quality artists -- and I am thrilled to be one of the few 'hometown' artists exhibiting! Noa, (VAC / 10th grade) will be assisting me at the show, and we'd both be thrilled to see some of our VAC friends there ?? Over the weekend, the streets of Bethesda Row are transformed into an outdoor gallery, showcasing fourteen media categories that are juried: ceramics, drawing/pastels, fiber/decorative, fiber/wearables, glass, graphics/printmaking, jewelry, metalwork, mixed media 2D, mixed media 3D, oil/acrylic painting, photography/digital art, sculpture, watercolor, and wood. It's a really cool show, and I highly recommend it to students both for the quality of the work, and also to see artists-in-action: This is one of the ways independent artists are able to exhibit and work, and it's kind of a fun scene in its own right. The show is open on Saturday, October 14 from 11:00am to 6:00pm and Sunday, October 15 from 10:00am to 5:00pm -- rain or shine!! Hope to see you there! Posting for a VAC family! Hello VAC Parents! We have a freshman travel student, Olivia, who is looking to set up a ride share situation. They live in the Laytonville area. They are looking for another family that may live in the direction of Laytonsville, Olney, Aspen hill or even Silver Spring that could help by driving Olivia after school to a library nearby the family or another safe location. Jill (Olivia's Mom) isn't getting to Olivia until 3:45/4 daily and is looking for a better option. Mom also ends her day in Germantown if someone lives in that direction too.
