Subject: [einsteinhs] Thank an Arts Teacher

?
Below is a link to a campaign from the Kennedy Center to share stories about an art teacher in your life who has impacted you.? Seems like something we could all contribute to among our school communities and it goes up on their "gratitude wall."? ?Im not?sure they are doing much more with it than posting messages, but it's sweet!

Re: Welcome new subscribers! First Meeting / PACE Social

Hi
It could feel this way because we do not have as many events as band and orchestra. Our big things are parent socials (which we are working on), the kick off breakfast (this ?is Friday that Pace is paying for) and the art show that is in May. I realized that the calendar of events that I have seen posted around is only through December so the art show is not on it.?

Just a thought but what if the student led jazz combo band were to play the event?? ?How do we make this happen? I have one kid in VAC and one kid in VAPA in the combo band. ?I’m all in for this for n event! I hope it’s every year! And I also think it would be a great fundraiser one year! Thank you to all you parents that make these things happen and keep it fresh and fun!

Seeking a parent to help with the PTA Reflections program

Nicole Grant

Dear parents,

The Einstein PTA participates in the national level Reflections program, in which students can reflect on a theme and then create original artwork to submit for this contest. This is a popular competition for which students (grades 9-12) can submit entries to this competition for the following categories: Visual Arts, Literature, Photography, Dance Choreography, Music Competition & Film Production.

?

I am currently the “Reflections Chair” for the AEHS PTA and am seeking a parent who would be willing to shadow me this year and take over in the following year(s) as my youngest child is now a senior at Einstein.? This is a great way for a parent to participate who wants to contribute but has limited time.? This job consists primarily of writing emails & following up with people, ?and then one hour observing the judging. The program is conducted all in the fall of each school year.

?

If you have questions for me about this program/the level of work involved, please reach out.? If you know you would love to help with this program and shadow me this year, then please let me know!? Email me directly at nicole@....

?

Thank you,

Nicole Grant

ISO Blair Travel Carpool or Teen Driver from VAC to Blair

Hi VAC Families, we are new to the program and now that things are underway, I am re-upping my summer ISO for drivers to Blair.

If you are interested in carpooling with us OR if your safe and responsible teen VAC student can drive our daughter to Blair in the AM, we'd be happy to chip in for gas and snacks each week.

Thanks everyone!
Jennifer (Ava Richards, 9th)

Welcome to the VAC

Welcome VAC families!??

I hope your student had a wonderful first day at school today!? I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself!? My name is Lainey Sidlowski, and my daughter, Alanna, is a senior in the VAC.? The VAC has changed her life, and I want to give back by helping to make the connection between our families and the VAC school family that much stronger.? I am one of your VAC liaisons. Karen Denny, mother of Grace (also a senior), is my partner in all things VAC!? One of our roles is to support the wonderful VAC teachers Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Harnish.? Another of our roles is to report to and work with PACE, an organization who supports ALL of the arts at Einstein.? PACE helped us purchase?art materials last year.? They also reduced the cost of field trips and provided breakfasts and lunches for our VAC students.

A special thanks to two additional?VAC parents, Lauren Pacuit (Lily, '26) Erica Spotts (Zack '26) for shadowing Karen and me as we attend PACE meetings so that they can learn the ropes.? Everyone is welcome to attend PACE meetings!??Please join PACE!? The VAC falls under PACE when it comes to supporting our talented students.

Re: Traveling VAC students. When should they come?

Hi Lauren,
I reached out to the VAC teachers and they said that your student can attend your home school on Tuesday if things were going on there. Students who plans to come on Tuesday and Wednesday should meet them in the office between 725-735 so they can walk your student down to room 39! They want all of the VAC students to come on Wednesday and they will meet them in the main office at the same time from above. They just sent out a Remind message about it. ?If you are not on Remind, see below for how to join. ?

Re: Welcome to '23-'24 Titans! All the PACE information you wanted to know

Hi Kristy,
Thanks for this question. It supports all of the arts at the same time. VAPA, VAC, instrumental music, dance, chorus, theater etc. Teachers and parents representing all of the groups meet about once a month, and we discuss events that are coming up, financial needs, coordinate our volunteer efforts, etc. Performances and fundraisers are two of the main events we discuss and promote. P.A.C.E. holds, tracks and disburses the funds that are raised for and by each group.?
We can remind VAC folks about the next P.A.C.E. meeting and hopefully some folks can come and see what goes on. They are very well organized, open to ideas and supportive.?
Hope this helps!
-Karen Denny

Re: Orientation question

Last year I believe the teachers hosted a separate day/time for traveling students. I recall my son going on Friday and attending his home school orientation on Thursday which worked great. I’m sure they’ll send details soon if this is an option. Still, I’d recommend going to orientation at the home school since there are more classes to find there.

Hope this helps!

Hi Ana!?

We are wondering the same thing. I’m leaning toward having Ella just go to her home HS Orientation at QO, but I’m not sure what would be best. We are 30+ minutes from Einstein so I’m not even sure it would work out to stop by Einstein first.?

Good evening VAC families,

My daughter is going to be a freshman this year and we noticed that Einstein and Walter Johnson (her home school where she will be going for periods 3-7) have orientation on the same day. For the parents that have gone through this, do you recommend that she goes in the morning to Einstein and after second period to drive her to Walter Johnson's orientation, or should she skip the orientation at Einstein and go only to her home school??

Thanks for your time :)
