Re: DDS board
Mike: I suggest that you look at the very fine software modification for Rx offset from K2ROW in this group's Files section. The original software did not allow for a very effective offset on

Re: Power supply for the transceiver
I've never actually sat down and calculated the power consumed by the 49er in transmit mode, but I would think that supply would work fine. If anyone has the actual current draw, I think all of us

Re: Power supply for the transceiver
I picked up a small wall mount supply 12VDC 860ma, is this sufficient to drive the 49er and the VFO circuits. I am pretty sure I will be fine on the 49er, but don't know what the VFO boards will draw.

DDS board
Hi, I wonder if anybody out there can help, I'm pulling my hair out here and I've not much left! I've built the DDS VFO which appeared to work fine with a nice stable output on J3 when I looked on the

Re: Adding a Software Keyer
Hi Karl, I'm not sure if merging two pieces of open source software together merits publishing in QST! But if there is interest, I can upload the code to the Files section. Needs a little cleanup

Hi Jack, I have purchased your book and Glen's book, and both are excellent resources. Problem is, there just isn't enough time to build all the cool projects! I do like to study the code, though. One

I've been trying to find a suitable case here in the UK. I can ship from the Container Store store in the US but I'd be absolutely crazy to do it. The case would cost me $10.34 (purely because i'm in

Re: Adding a Software Keyer
Chuck; I think that you should write up this keyer mod and submit it to ARRL for possible publication in QST! This 49er/VFO, I would guess, has been a popular build project, and guys like me, would

Thanks a lot, Mark. After work I will scope Q6 and probably swap for a 2N3904 running with 12V tops. I will let you know results. Bob

Bob: I also had the same problem with both of my 49ers. The first one was a blown driver transistor, Q6. It would work for a few minutes and then..... no output. I placed my finger on the transistor
