Re: Pilot error?
What kind of voltage are you seeing on J3. It should be at least 1V p2p. You can also put a scope on it if you have one. Jack, W8TEE To: SoftwareControlledHamRadio@... Sent: Wednesday,

Re: Pilot error?
Hope everyone had fun at field day. I spent part of it replacing the two transistors on the VFO board. Unfortunately, still no output at J3 - spent a lot of time fiddling with R1 too. Has anyone had a

Re: Question
I hope you have read the forum posts about the problems with the 360 mini regulator... It's most likely not faulty! You just have to turn it hard to get the wiper past the component next to it... I

Re: Implementation of the voltmeter option
Glad you are liking the voltmeter mod. There is a little back story to it. Looking over the schematic of the VFO I noted the R7, R8, C7 components. Looked like a voltage divider to me. Scanned the

Re: Implementation of the voltmeter option
Hi! Thank you Hank for a great contribution to this group. I have mine up and running with the voltmeter mod. I renamed the vfo_source_rev_6volt.ino file without the " _ " underscore in order to be

Re: Question
Great info and can't wait to hear how much things change when you add the VFO capability. It will make a huge difference! Jack, W8TEE To: SoftwareControlledHamRadio@... Sent: Sunday, June

Re: Question
Well Jack, until I read my March 2016 issue of QST and the article on the 49-er, I had never heard of this radio and I have been a QRP enthusiast ever since I built my Heathkit HW-8! I immediately

Re: Question
I forgot to mention that this is for Field Day again, so I'd like to hear from you fairly soon. Thanks! 73,Jack, W8TEE

Question
If you have built a Forty-9er, I'm wondering what the furthest contact you've made is and, if you recall, what was your RST. In the QST article I said that I was going to put my Forty-9er on display

Re: Implementation of the voltmeter option
The bug fix for the Voltmeter implementation is posted to the files section. Simply download the new file, delete your old version of the source code in the Arduino. Paste in the new version.

Re: Understanding the Mini-360 Buck voltage Regulator
Same here. The more I looked into this component the more I like it. Finding these items for less than 50 cents each in quantities of 10 on eBay. Buying a few to drop in the junk box. Till later Hank

Re: Implementation of the voltmeter option
My job put me on a road trip for a few days. Me being me I threw a bench power supply, the laptop where I've been working on the source code, and the VFO in the vehicle so I could work on the project

Re: The VFO functions good
The 49er audio output jack pcb wiring apparently shorts the LM386 audio out signal when a 3.5mm plug is inserted (may be a stereo jack.) I replaced that jack with a mono type and have audio

Re: The VFO functions good
Alas, several people have had bad parts during the build. I've built four units and have been lucky so far, and two of those were the cheapest I could find. Also, one of them had the later 612 on it,

The VFO functions good
OK, hooked everything up last evening, nary a peep or received signals out of the 49er. So, got some time on our fancy digital 'scope here at work to check out the DDS VFO and it is working perfectly

Understanding the Mini-360 Buck voltage Regulator
Up to the time that I decided to build this radio from the March 2016 QST, I had never heard of the "mini-360 Buck voltage regulator! I have built a few electronic kits recently and this was a new one

Re: It's Alive! [1 Attachment]
Good job Jeff!? I hope that when I finish mine, I have the same results!? The first 49-er kit that I assembled, also put out just under 2 watts.? Then for fun, I put my HF-Packer linear amplifier

Good to see that you got it working! I'm adding my BCI filter in permanently. I'm hoping to get the rig back in time for Field Day. Jack, W8TEE To: softwarecontrolledhamradio@... Sent:
