Re: Questions/errors in Arduino sketch
The readers are probably going to need more info in order to be of some help. While you may have mentioned the issues in an earlier post, most readers would prefer to have the (remaining) issues stated explicitly rather than go back and look through your previous posts. Jack, you've gone thru a lot with me and others about the TWO errors on your excellent article!

I'm thoroughly enjoying the tinkering time, using my scope, etc. No rush to make a QSO, but I'm getting close. I hope you are enjoying retirement as much as me. No missing of the ET department at UNCC. They DROPPED the computer emphasis when I left!? For real! ? Guess I ?didn't "leave my mark" there. 21 years there. Regards Bo W4GHV? Email the designer and he will help. Forgot his call. The one who sells the vfos. See March QST for info.

Re: DDS VFO TXOffset Function
Well I did implement the mod.? But when I went to reflash it did?not work without a few minor changes.? I have attached the file that worked for me.?To see the changes I made just look for?the lines with my initials "WBJ" Thanks for this MOD I may actually be able to make a few QSOs now! Bill |

Mystery of R-0 ZERO
I completed my 1st 49er DDS VFO several weeks ago and its working great. (see photo)? I am in the process of putting together a 2nd one?so ordered another 49er kit from EBAY.?? This one is slightly different.. It has an extra resistor R-0.??R-0 is right next to C-8 on the PWB and has 10K in the silk screen.? Since its not on the schematic I am confused.? Has anyone else run into this? |

?
I am building the Forty-9er (VFO is completed) and hit a snag.? The PCB shows CP9 as an electrolytic and the schematic shows it as a 0.1uF disc.? To make things more confusing, I seem to recall mention of a different value...perhaps a .047uF disc.? Can anyone tell me if I should go with the .1uF or some other value? I am about to put in the transistors and then wind and install the toroids, so I still have a bit of time to research this. BTW:? I have created a 3-D printed plate with a proper sized hole to mount the LCD (including the mounting bolts) as well as the rotary encoder.? It's a mock-up, as I am adding an audio amp, keyer, and other controls when the radio works like I want it to.? I can send the Sketchup drawing of the plate if anyone needs it.? Perhaps I can post it here under the files section.? Not sure how helpful it would be. Wish me luck, Jim - AD4XX |

Re: Questions/errors in Arduino sketch
Yep that's the one I mentioned in my original post.
I was excited to find out about this group to find someone else that tried this project. When I found code with a later date i jumped at it, thinking it would be error free. Haven't looked at yours to see if is error free yet. ? 73 Bo |

Re: Questions/errors in Arduino sketch
Ok I see the problem(s).
First of all I did not post the frequency expansion code. I posted the RXOFFSET code which uses the correct D4 for the rotator switch pin. The frequency expansion code does use D7 which is not correct. I found two versions of Jack's code, an older incorrect version which uses D7 and a newer correct version which uses D4. I suggest you upgrade to the latest version of the code from the link on the DDS VFO website

Re: Questions/errors in Arduino sketch
I think another apology is in order after you look at the code/sketch that is posted here. The one that expanded the frequency range.
It clearly says 7 no matter how you read the schematic! 73, W4GHV Bo Harrisburg, NC Ham since 54, MSEE, Extra Class, retired engineering professor. |
