Problem running Arduino on Linux under Kubuntu / Ubuntu
Somethings changed with a recent Ubuntu update.? I tried launching the Arduino AppImage and got this:
?
./arduino-ide_2.3.6_Linux_64bit.AppImage
[13415:0522/155036.803945:FATAL:setuid_sandbox_host.cc(158)] The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, bu t is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I'm aborting now. You need to make sure that /tmp/.mount_arduinIn8mwB/chrome-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755. Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped) Anyone else seen this and have a fix? |

Re: T41 from AI6YM
Yes, the book corresponds to the V66.9 firmware, so you should update the firmware on your radio. You can find the firmware and the instructions here:

My software () is for v11.? I did send Al a little blurb about my build.? I'm currently building the v12 and slowly modifying my software for the hardware changes.? It will be a while before it's ready to put up on GitHub, but if folks are interested, I could put up the work in progress.? I'm currently working on refining the calibration routines. |
New T41 Site Available
Hi Everyone,
I have created, with Jack's help, a new site all about the T41-EP at:
?
This is an 'information and background site" for the T41, not an open forum - the SCHR (this site) is the place for posting comments/suggestions about the T41.
?
I intend to post lots of photos of user-built T41 rigs. I have a few already included, but would like more. If I get enough, I will create a separate gallery page of just T41 builds.
Photos should be sent to me directly at albertfpeter@... with a brief explanation. I reserve the right to edit any comments for brevity.
Let me know what you think.
Regards,
Al Peter

T41 from AI6YM
Hi everyone.?
We have a radio club where I work.? Last year we purchased a T41 kit from AI6YM.? I understand it have v50.2 firmware on it.? When trying to follow the Receive IQ calibration, from the latest T41 book (updated for v12 boards), we noticed that the menu is missing some functions and the display is messed up.? Is the book written for v66.9 firmware?? ?Here is what the display looks like.? Thanks ,

Re: T41 Books for sale - signed copies Latest version
Bill and Al Thanks very much for the replies. I'll get it from , though I see they're still listing the old edition as well as the new one. Luckily I was signed up to this group when all the discussions about the version were taking place so I know which one to order. Al Thanks for the offer to scan it. A simple "to Keith, G0GNL. I hope you enjoy it" would be nice. Jerry I don't know about "Pirate Ship" but at those rates the Starship Enterprise at warp speed seems reasonable. Regards and thanks again ? Keith, G0GNL |
Re: Digital Mod FT8
I've noticed that my radio sets its time automatically after a few minutes if I have the USB cable plugged in. I have not yet found the code that makes this happen, but I'll get there eventually.

Re: Help: Audio is pumping on bands 17 and 15.
Well, I think 3 seconds is ok... keeps you from pressing the button twice accidently and having the radio come right back on... You could probably cut it to 1 second though...

Yeah, that's probably an unnecessarily long wait. The ATTiny85 code has a couple of delays that result in the long wait. It can easily be shortened by changing these two lines: On Tuesday, May 20th, 2025 at 6:24 PM, jerry-KF6VB <jerry@...> wrote:

The way it's *supposed* to work is: You press the power button. The AtTiny tells the Teensy - "It's time to shut down". The Teensy quickly cleans up and tells the atTiny - "OK to shut down now", and the atTiny turns off the juice. So the Teensy doesn't "wait" for the atTiny - it's the atTiny waiting for the Teensy. It should reasonably happen in one swing of the main loop. - Jerry, KF6VB |
