Re: JLCPCB Price Increase
Greg: What would be your best guess if, say, the RF board were populated with all SMD parts, including IC's, but not the "standup" parts like voltage regulators, electrolytics, IDC/SMA connectors? Assume a 2-layer with 100 SMD devices on it. I have no idea. Jack, W8TEE

Also I think there is a possibility of longer ship times.? So "rapid prototyping" is going to be a little less rapid.
The bottom line is that the cost has doubled for the smallest possible order.? Hopefully the extra cost won't directly scale with the size of the order.

Re: JLCPCB Price Increase
According to the shipping charges on their website, DHL is running $22.82.

In addition, "Global Standard Direct Line" is back. But not $1.50, rather $12.69. I think this reflects tariff costs plus the paperwork burden of the elimination of the de-minimus exception. I suspect that the paperwork cost will decrease over time as they automate it. - Jerry, KF6VB On 2025-05-19 08:43, jjpurdum via groups.io wrote:

Re: Test Equipment
I have a full range of Siglent equipment however for recent Electronics merit badge I used one of these:
FNIRSI? 2C53P 3-IN-1 50MHz 250MS/s Dual Channel Tablet Touchable Oscilloscope Multimeter DDS Generator?
They also have this:
FNIRSI? DPOS350P 4-IN-1 350MHz 1GSPS Tablet Oscilloscope Signal Generator Spectrum Analyzer Frequency Response Analyzer?
I have used the 2C and it functions as advertised, not checked it against the lab equipment that will come later when I get a chance.
They seem well made and very reasonable.

Re: Help: Audio is pumping on bands 17 and 15.
I've got the same issue with a completed radio. It does not affect the spectrum display or the S meter, only the audio. It's confined to 17 and 15 metres. The pumping occurs about twice per second. It does not occur if the radio starts up on 17 or 15 metres direct from switch-on but starts as soon as the band is changed to one of these two bands.

Just ordered some PCBs from JLCPCB. Looks like price for 5 boards is back to $2, but there was a $3.63 charge for customs and duties added. DHL shipping cost seems to have also increased by about 50%.

Re: Test Equipment
Hi John,
I use a two-channel Siglent SDG 2122x generator that can synchronize the channels and phase shift one by 90 deg - hence quadrature signals.
The Spectrum analyze is not entirely necessary and I would suggest trying to borrow one. Also, many of the recent digital Oscilloscopes have a built-in frequency analysis capability that should suffice.
?
If you really want a decent SA, i use the Siglent SSA3021x with TG source. Pricey, but very capable.
