Re: TTiny85 and Revers Polarity Protection
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI think Oliver answered this perfectly but to reiterate¡ ? The Main board was designed so that when building it¡ you can select ONE of TWO options. ? OPTION 1:?? You can select the Reverse Polarity option¡ which is essentially the kit that Oliver and I are selling built into the Main board.? It does not allow reverse voltage to flow if you connect your radio backwards.? If you select this option, you CANNOT do option #2. ? OPTION 2:? This option is the soft-on-off approach to controlling the power to the radio.? Push the momentary contact button once and the radio comes on.? Then, later, push the button again momentarily and the power goes off¡ but before it does, it can run routines in the radio to do shutdown stuff¡ like put up a splash screen, save things you have selected to the memory card, etc.¡ then turn off¡ until the next push on again.? You don¡¯t get the reverse polarity protection of OPTION #1 using OPTION #2¡ BUT you CAN add one of our stand-alone reverse polarity kits and essentially get both for less than $10. ? The schematic show part positions for both options¡ and the BOM and build instructions have BLUE writing for one option and RED for the other.? The ATTiny85 is for OPTION #2 and was selected because it took up less board space than the flip-flops needed otherwise to do the same thing¡ and is programmable (!) for software timing and other things using its spare pins (like turning on and off the display at a different time¡ sequencing). ? ? ? ? ? Re: 192kHz usb audio patch for Teensyduino - testers?
The Audio Library patch is completely independent of the T41 hardware and software versions. The patch just provides the capability; the?T41 software would then need to be enhanced to use this new capability. -Dave On Sun, 4 Aug 2024 at 13:38, K9HZ <bill@...> wrote:

Re: Display Disassembly
If the connectors between the LCD panel and the PC board are the same, you could use AdaFruit's RA8875 controller board instead (if your rework of the board to replace the chip fails).
Being a QFTP type package, it should be possible to replace the chip, unless it has a thermal pad on the bottom, then it gets dicey. Good luck! |

Re: TTiny85 and Revers Polarity Protection
You have to choose between the ATTiny85 part of the circuit and the reverse polarity protection part -- you can't install both parts because they will interfere with each other. If you install the ATTiny85 part, you won't have reverse polarity protection.
?
So you are correct that if you don't want to use the ATTiny85, you must install the reverse polarity components (Q1,D5,R16).

I've successfully used WSJT-X with Windows 11 with the T41 passing audio over USB along with control signals.? I patched the 192 kHz sampled audio to an AudioOutputUSB and it is transferred to the PC without distortion.? Other than having to pass the audio through an AudioAmplifier object first, no other audio code changes were needed. |
Re: 192kHz usb audio patch for Teensyduino - testers?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI looked at this myself. ?I dont think it makes sense to run the complete radio that way¡ rather you would take the I/Q input and outputs from the RF board straight into the appropriate audio card in the computer, and then use [your fav SDT program here] to direct the audio card in the computer as its interface while using USB cat control to run the radio functions (set mode, frequency, t/r, etc). That actually works today just plugging cables in different places. ?Bice versa¡ if you have another SDT/ SDR that you want to use with the T41?main/display/ demod/mod.. you can do that too with a small bot of work.? Re: 192kHz usb audio patch for Teensyduino - testers?
Again, I'm really bad at EE topics, but in all fairness, Al designed the T41 ADC processing 5 years ago and COVID was just starting to rear its ugly head. At that time, some high performance ADCs were almost $60 each, which seems out of reach at the time. Today, ADCs with 500ksps are around $15. My guess is that it would be doable now without breaking the bank. Jack, W8TEE
