Re: Menu oddities

OK, I tracked it down and fixed it. Update code here:

I removed one line in Display.cpp under UpdateInfoWindow(). There was a call to UpdateIncrementField() that automatically increments the Fine Tune setting, so I removed it.

I've noticed that the noise floor in my receive spectrum varies, too, when I change the grounding of my radio.? I¡¯ve been fighting this a little bit too.? Running heavy shields between the boards helps somewhat for my radios¡ but having the A/D and D/A on the RF board might have been a smarter move on our part.? Its hard to tell without trying it.? The second receiver is more-quiet than the first and that is where mt data comes from (Its away from the main board)¡That combined with super low noise voltage regulators may make all the difference.

Are you saying that if you tune to 10 MHz and select SAM demodulation, you measure a frequency offset of 190 Hz?

?

A gotcha with the frequency calibration is that it matters how you tune to 10 MHz -- don't touch the fine tune knob! The math under the hood in the frequency calibration routine doesn't account for the fine tune frequency offset. Instead, tune by pressing the Dir Freq (Direct Frequency) button and entering 10 on the button pad. Does that help?

190 Hz isn't that bad but I'd like it to be close to zero.

It's not too hard to print the S-meter value to the serial monitor, but controlling the radio without a display is a bit of a guess.? That's where my comes in handy.?

With that I see a 10 to 20 dB reduction in the noise floor on the upper bands of the 4SQRP without its 5" display.? This seems consistent with the results that John posted.

?

Another way to test this is to disconnect the display altogether.? This can't be done with the existing software as the code will hang trying to start the RA8875 object.? However, in developing the T41 Beacon Monitor, I created a version of the T41 software that doesn't update the display, though the RA8875 object was still there to display the Beacon Monitor.? With a bit of work, I separated that portion of the display code as well.? I can now completely disconnect the display.? It's not too hard to print the S-meter value to the serial monitor, but controlling the radio without a display is a bit of a guess.? That's where my comes in handy.?

With that I see a 10 to 20 dB reduction in the noise floor on the upper bands of the 4SQRP without its 5" display.? This seems consistent with the results that John posted.

?

I need to repeat this with my v12.

?

Each time I press the enter/select button to select a menu setting the tuning fine increment changes. This only happens when exiting the menu. Just pressing select when not in a menu has no effect.

?

I'm using the MCP23017 front panel.

?

Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas what might be causing it?

Re: T41 V9 troubleshooting guide

I don't think so. That was V10.

A co-worker purchased a V9 T41, but its not completely operational.? I know this is a few revs back, but is there a (per board) check out/troubleshooting guide somewhere for that rev??? Something with test point voltages?

?

Thanks.
