Re: ServoCAT on my DOB enables Astro Photos
Filippo, Is it "real"? I can see a page showing a brief description but nothing more than that. No price - where to buy or anything similar. Gary Myers

Re: ServoCAT on my DOB enables Astro Photos
Good morning Filippo, I'll need to check that out. Still pondering what might be achievable re allowing something else to control the system. g.

Re: ServoCAT on my DOB enables Astro Photos Wes Smithy
Wes, VERY nice indeed! Can you fill in a bit more detail on what you used to do this please? "ZAMAR"? Also a rough idea of your procedure to get, say, the M16 shot? Gary Myers StellarCAT

Wow. The Veil nebula mosaic . That is next level. Nice one. I havent got my head around the hardware software interface but it looks like folks are actively pursuing this great development over and

Re: ServoCAT on my DOB enables Astro Photos
Thanks Mike. I think I'm more thinking about drift if someone for example doesn't have their backlash optimization done or if they have high stictional forces and drift due to it ... using the GUIDE

Re: Conversion to a Smart Telescope
Dave, I don't know how but I missed this message! I was busy getting ready to move at that time so probably why. Apologies. So let me read through this... Questions 1) *** Does Servocat or Argo-Navis

Anybody tried ServoCAT + ASIAIR?
G`day everyone. I am the happy owner of a 12" inch Meade with the Jr. kit, a ServoCAT Gen 3 plus an ArgoNavis. Been a visual mostly, but used a ZWO ASI 1600MC/C with a 200 SkyWatcher over an HEQ5 for

Re: ServoCAT on my DOB enables Astro Photos
Hi Gary, It is always great when people have a lot of things and projects to do after retirement, it¡¯s great. Happy for you. In case you are interested in enjoying education and not only strictly

Re: Increase Az rate : is there a limit for motor ?
Thanks Gary for feed back, I'll thus keep the 5¡ã/s & acceleration time 5s. It's already a great improvment. For those interesting, here enclosed are some curves of required time to move to an angle,

Re: ServoCAT on my DOB enables Astro Photos
Good morning Gary, 1. You don¡¯t really need to guide with modern CMOS cameras and short exposures especially with great applications like Sharpcap pro and ASIAir. I personally have used Sharpcap Pro

Re: ServoCAT on my DOB enables Astro Photos
Filippo (and others doing EAA with a dob), Good morning. Now that I've retired I'm considering what I want to do with my time... I am an amateur radio operator - and use to have a world class station

Re: Increase Az rate : is there a limit for motor ?
Raphael, Good morning sir. Ok - good to hear the results. Personally I think 5¡ã/sec on a scope of that size and mass is more than sufficient :) I'd not suggest going any higher. That will mean a best

Re: Increase Az rate : is there a limit for motor ?
Dear Gary, dear all, Yesterday I performed the tests describes above by Gary. There was high winds, so not ideal for motors, but I did the test anyway. Original az rotation speed 3¡ã/s, acceleration

Thanks Gary Very clear. I understand and will proceed I¡¯ll do this (n few weeks as wether forecast is not good this week end and so I can¡¯t test with the loaded scope thanks again Raphael

Re: Increase Az rate : is there a limit for motor ?
Sorry Raphael, that listed speed was unloaded. Trust me - as it turns out a gear ratio of ~6000:1 will typically do about 6¡ã/second. On a mount where there's less frictional losses it will do better

Re: Increase Az rate : is there a limit for motor ?
Thanks Gary !!! Such a very complete and wonderfull answer ! Enclosed I put my setup and we can see that my acceleration is 3 s, which seems a bit low if I increase the speed in az. I will try to do
Re: Increase Az rate : is there a limit for motor ?
Raphael, Good morning sir! So. The ultimate limitation is going to be the top end motor speed. As information I intentionally designed the internal SMPS to run at 30V even though the motors are 24V.

Re: Increase Az rate : is there a limit for motor ?
Thanks Bill oups ! My mistake ! Of course changing the gear ratio would be wrong ! My question should have been : Could I change the slew speed as I want , in my case put in servosky 6 deg/s, without
