Re: Bushings for rudder pintles
I've never had to buy them for my S2, the boat came with a bag of 10 or so. I have bought them for other boats before. Measure up the ID of the grudgeon and the OD of the pintle you will likely find something from "Grainger" that will work. Last time i bought some I found the size i needed made by Igus in plastic and also in brass without a brand name. My local Grainger warehouse got them in stock for me in a day or two and the 4 I bought cost about $5. The brass ones looked like they where going to last longer but they felt sticky sometimes from corrosion build up.

Bushings for rudder pintles
The S2 27 list is pretty quiet. ?Here's a conversation starter. Anyone have a source for the rudder pintle bushings? ?My rudder is getting a bit loose, particularly when sailing downwind. ?I believe that they are made of nylon (delrin?)?Thanks in advance. Dave S. 1987 S2 27 "Model B" |
Re: S2 27 on eBay
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThat really is sad. Looked like a pretty nice boat.Someone commented earlier that eBay boat shoppers are looking for cheap. I guess they were right. That was a steal. Frank

S2 27 on eBay
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThat's a crazy price.? I would think you could about scrap it out for more than that. Hope it doesn't establish a new baseline for our boats. |
Re: Cradle for s2 27
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Norman,I hope you get more bids, too. Your boat is worth way more than the response so far. Fingers crossed! Frank

Hi, Brian, Thanks for the encouragement! ?You can keep track of the bidding by bookmarking the eBay listing. ?At the moment, after just half a day with six and a half more days to go, bidding is at $1025. ?Fingers crossed! Hi, Doug, Thanks for your insights re eBay and Craigslist. ?I think eBay has some built-in protection whereas Craigslist has none. ?It's true that everyone, no matter which site they use, is looking for a major steal. ?I'm hoping for the best, however. More importantly I hope whoever buys my boat will take good care of her. Best, Norman From: "Doug Hoffman dhoffman888@... [s227classassociation]" To: s227classassociation@... Ebay boat buyers are looking for major steals. Craigslist and several of the dedicated net ¡°used sailboats for sail¡± sites are the way to go IMO.

Re: S2-27 renovation with carpet headliner removed
I went the route you describe, and for the reasons you give. Super satisfied. Plus the carpeting provides thermal insulation: helps keep you warm inside the cabin when it¡¯s cold outside at night. Have used a small electric shore power heater and have been cozy during low 30s outside. Also helps keep you cool inside the cabin when it¡¯s hot outside.

Replacement carpeting is easy to find, not expensive, and easy to stick on with 3M 77 super spray (don¡¯t breathe the spray). -Doug On Aug 24, 2016, at 1:17 PM, SHNOOL Schramm shnool@... [s227classassociation] <s227classassociation@...> wrote: |

I've been thinking about pealing back the liner on my 7.9, but I always figured I'd put monkey fur back up again.? Can anyone speculate if this is a better option? Was the fairing with epoxy or resin.? Seems like lots of work to me for minimal gain, where the monkey fur would restore the "look" keep the sound deadening, and be quicker and easier. ? _______________________________________________
