S2 27 sailing performance in heavy weather

Hi,

I am looking at an S2 27. ?I am on the western end of Lake Erie, so we occasionally get some winds 15+ Kts. and some pretty good chop to go with it.

We currently own an O'day 25. ?I am concerned that the S2 27 may not handle much better since it is only 2 ft longer and 1000 lbs heavier. ?Any opinions on how the S2 handles in heavy weather is greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Joe

?
Since it has been slow on this group how about everybody reply with their name, hull number, location and current status. ?I also have no issue with offering used sails or other sailing equipment for sale on this list, as long as it your personal stuff. ?If we get a bunch of offers to buy Chinese Rolex's I can turn it off again. Maintenance tips and tricks are always good. ?What do you think about allowing images to be posted ? ?I turned it on on another list and it has not caused problems.

Greetings all,

Re: Alive??

Are you the moderator now of the S2 27 Class Association list now, Mark?

Have you been sailing for a while now down there in Nashville?? Weather has been pretty rotten up here on Lake Michigan.? My boat has not yet been launched for the season. Hopefully, I'll get it in by Memorial Day...we'll see.

It is alive and working but there has been no traffic this year until now.? I am thinking that the S2 Yachts list is being used for s2-27.

Re: Alive??

rperret,

Sorry. I SO seldom check my Yahoo email.

I think I even sent you a message on SailNet. Assuming rperret is your username over there as well.

I'm so sorry I have been AWOL.?

My "REAL" email address is mcrigger@... and I'm been considering starting an S2-27 website, with a Forum, etc. for us S2-27 owners. Thoughts?

Re: Alive??

Mark - what us your email or username> ?i can transfer ownership to you. ?for some reason the management panel is not showing this and i can't send you a PM...(urgh I hate the changes they have made to Yahoo..)

Re: Alive??

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

That seems like a shame to shut it down.? I moderate another (yahoo car club) list and could do it if no one steps up or objects.?

Do you have it set to approve all posts or just new members?

Mark

Re: New Tack

Hi I just saw this - sorry for delay - I will PM you as it seems Yahoo have added a new function to transfer ownership.

Model variations

Does anyone have any model specific details for each year, hull number, etc. I noticed the '85 brochure (my model #11) has a different interior from the '87. What hull number made this shift? What year? What happened in '86? Is it just the difference between cruising and racing? My model is the racing (mainsheet track in cockpit) and more control lines run aft on cabin top.

Thanks,
Matt (pyrocrig)

Re: New Tack

I agree with maajique - and I'm new! The stuff on this site has been VERY helpful to me! Since the 27 was a short run vessel, it's nice to have a place for us to interact.

Re: New Tack

Thanks for your work in managing this group. I have found it useful.

Re: New Tack

If it can transferred to me, I'd love to maintain it. I just bought an S2 27, upgrading from an O'day 192 of 6 years. Got tired of weather not cooperating with my schedule or vacation plans.
