unused 12V tap on main circuit board?
#'squestion
I've been experimenting with using a cast-off android cellphone with no internet connection as a navigation device. I've been using the OSMand software and downloaded via my home network the four local states I'm liable to be riding in the near future. It works surprising well.
I see some small 12V to 5V transformers on Amazon. I was wondering if I hit the "RESV" terminals and one of the Brown terminals on the circuit board, and drilled and grommetted a small hole in the headlight shell to pass a wire thru to charge my cellphone. Have any of you done something similar or see a downside to this scheme? |
On my, um, modern bike, I just added a simple USB socket to a switched wire.? It worked just great.? Total GPS navigation with my iPhone and the phone?remained charged.? Easy peasey. Years ago, I electrified the tankbag on my R90S.? Same deal, but that was long before the terrific USB stuff.
