Would someone please pass Vech's information, below to the /5 list so they know the?true story and don't order the wrong parts?
If you want the correct repro handlebar switches for your bike, see Vech's complete statement below.

How about NOT posting purposely misleading and incorrect information to the airhead list?
The most made-up/implied portion of the story from yesterday is as follows; the email from yesterday had additional incomplete information that was posted above this statement:?
"These /5 switches are now available from The Beemer Shop and it's many dealers including Motorrad Elektrik, Euro Moto Electrics, Bob¡¯s BMW plus others. The Beemer Shop welcomes dealer inquiries."
The above is BS, many others sell these parts, The Beemer Shop does not control the supply of these parts as is explicitly implied by the sender. IMO this reflects badly on Ted's shop and he does not?deserve?that.
Following is the true, complete story from Vech at Bench Mark Works, read it if you have the models Vech references or you could buy the wrong parts for your bike and who needs to go through that?

From Vech:
These are the same switches that I am selling.?????
I was the one that first contacted the manufacturer, and sent samples of the original switches,? and I insisted that the manufacture?modify them with screw terminals on the back of the switch (rather than hard soldered harnesses) so the harnesses can be replaced as they fall apart in the sun.?
This was my idea, but I do not have an exclusive contract, so others now offer the switches.
However, the people I contacted to make the switches, insisted on providing harnesses with each switch.
There is a problem with that. I argued against it, but they would not listen.?
The problem is,? 1974 only /6 uses a?different harness and has flag terminals on the end that goes in the H/L bucket.
The /5 version had simple tinned ends on the wires, to connect with the terminal board and flasher socket.
Plus, the LHS /6 has extra wires for the clutch interlock feature that the /5 version does not.
And, the 1974 only R90s had an identical harness,?but of different length.
That is why I sell the same switches, without harnesses, and I offer the harnesses separate.?
The Harnesses for the /5 are:
61 31 1 351 219H--$35.50--RHS? indicator switch harness /5?
61 31 1 351 220H--$35.50--LHS indicator switch harness /5?
But the harnesses for the 1974 /6 bikes are:
61 31 1 357 521H--$35.00--RHS indicator switch harness /6 1974 only
61 31 1 357 521HS--$35.00--RHS indicator switch harness R90S 1974 only
61 31 1 357 523H--$35.00--LHS switch harness? /6? 1974 only
61 31 1 357 523HS--$35.00--LHS switch harness? R90S? 1974 only
And the original headlight bucket grommet that was?originally made up on the harness of /6 switches, was not removable (due to the combination of flag terminals? and the fact that the wires were hard soldered into the original switches). ??that grommet was not available separately,?back in the day. ??I have a substitute that fits and works.? And it is possible to install it because the end of the harness at the switch is not hard soldered to the switch.
61 31 1 357 521G--$1.00--Grommet for /6 bucket 1974 harness?
