Hi all

How are you all doing?

We in Spain locked up, we can?€?t even go shopping, its an economic
disaster

How is Italy?

And Portugal?

Kirk, la Suisse ?

USA? Heard you are doing smoothly, like the UK and Germany, no
restrictions to have a walk around
The virus is just getting going here in the US. I live in Pennsylvania in
the county with the most confirmed cases. Over the weekend they closed
restaurants in the county. This closed the diner where we hold the
monthly mac-pac breakfast. A few guys met at a place in the next county.

Last night they closed all other non-essential businesses in the state.
Luckily I work in a manufacturing concern. I am also an engineer so I can
work from home. They removed 1/2 the chairs from the cafeteria to keep
distance. They also deep cleaned and propped some inside doors open.
Everyone is using hand sanitizing before meetings.

There was a round of panic buying and hoarding at the stores. Roads are
empty.

Our California office is in the "Hot Zone" that was closed down. I was in
the office last week. I also visited Corona CA on Wednesday. I feel OK.
I bicycle commute and I am aware that my snot-rockets may be armed.

Ride Safe,

Joe

I'm in Colorado. As Mac and all the others say, it's a rapidly-changing situation, state to state.? The federal gov't has been behind the curve in terms of providing guidance or resources, and states and even local governments have taken a larger role. ? As of yesterday, Colorado had just 160 test-confirmed cases and one death; though there are reports of people with suspected cases having great difficulty getting tested; even the criteria for getting tested change; and they restrict doctors from providing the test.? That may be because the testing system & infrastructure wasn't prepared to deal with the number of potential cases.

?? Schools are closed and colleges have gone to online classes only.? Beginning today, the Governor of Colorado ordered closure of all restaurants & bars, cafes, recreation facilities and all such gathering places.? There are going to be major economic impacts here as everywhere. My city of Fort Collins has a lot of micro-breweries with pubs; and only can sell beer "to-go". Needless to say, between the closing of restaurants and bars that serve their beers and the loss of their ability to serve patrons directly, they have a lot of barrels that will be sitting around.? I heard an estimate that 10% of the workforce works in such 'hospitality" services; most are hourly and are being hard hit with the loss of a paycheck. And of course, this all ripples up into diminished tax revenues for all levels of government,? as well.?

?We've observed the same obsessive hoarding behavior as everywhere else.? Oddly, the first thing to go was toilet paper.? Now I see ads pop up on social media for sellers of TP at 10 times the normal price.? A friend in the auto-painting business went to buy a couple masks at his supplier only to be told that some guy had gone in & bought all of them; likely for profitable re-sales. There are always such types taking advantage of emergencies.

?My wife & I usually count ourselves as fortunate to have a cushion; I'm retired and have always been frugal. (Though I had been thinking of getting a 2nd bike to replace the R90/6 I had sold a yr. ago, as a daily rider. The stock market's dive has made me reassess as it's reduced our retirement savings by about 1/3 already.? My wife has been planning to retire as soon as the end of the year; but? I suspect that the sudden reduction of our retirement savings might change her plan.

? It's hard to know where this is all going.? The "social distancing"? policies will no doubt help to slow if not end community spread;? I'm sure that to whatever extent it's successful some will likely say that we over-reacted and in so doing did a lot of economic harm... but based on what we saw with China and in Italy, and Spain, I have little doubt that it's been the right strategy.? But the economic impacts are likely to be enormous.

?As for me I've got to put my '75 R90/S back together.? I crashed it by riding it straight into one of those sand-filled barrels used for a lane closure last year.? I literally didn't see it as I was still wearing my dark overglasses well after sunset and distracted by the lighting.on the other side.? No serious damages to rider or bike, but it resulted in a complete repainting of all painted parts.? I'd been wanting to do that anyway, as the bike had been custom-painted by a previous owner and I never liked what they did.? It's now back to Silver-Smoke.? (I originally wanted to go with the seemingly more popular Daytona Orange, but decided the more sedate Silver Smoke was more my style. )? Anyway, I've been slow to get everything ready to reassemble.

Best to all,?
Roger Hoffmann

Here in Italy total lock down.
At the moment we are the worst country in Europe for number of infected people. We are lucky to have a high quality national health service, which is making real miracles to assist all of us.? It's not easy to face this situation, the city looks like a "post-nucler war movie", no one all around, only few people can go out to buy food and urgent medicines.
Even psychologically, it is not easy to accept the idea of being almost prisoners in the house. However, we are the nation which has adopted these radical measures first, and we will probably we will also be the first ones to get out of quarantine. But when? We will only know this in a month or two ... In the meantime, a lot of books, films, and also... some mechanical works in the garage!
A big ciao to all of you from a desert Milano.

and used the bike to train in the summer.? He rode the brakeless bike
through the streets of New York City for years.? My did rode it for years,
then gave it to me.? Yes, my dad let me loose in traffic on a bicycle w/o
brakes.

Unfortunately I wrecked the bike by riding it into the back of a parked
Pontiac.? That was that.? I bought a traditional 10-speed with brakes.

Around 2010 I took a track riding experience at the local velodrome and
fell back in love with fixed gear riding.? After my son died I got more
focused on riding and my friend gave me his retired Italian Cesare track
bike from the 1990's.? I converted it to a road bike with brakes in memory
of my son.? Here is the result:

Ride safe,

G'day Joe

Until my industrial accident I too was an avid cyclist. For my 13th
birthday my father bought me a bicycle. Unbeknown to us he bought a
1963 Legnano Tour De France practice racer. Yep it's still with me.

Tito,

You got me.? Besides having an R90s I am an avid bicyclist.? I have 2
Garmin units, the tiny Edge 25, which is the size of a watch and will
give your speed, distance, time, cadence and heart rate.? It also will
direct you on a route like the Beeline, but the directions are cryptic
at best.
The battery is good for 8 hours if it is warm. ?(It lasts 15 minutes
when it is 12?¡ãF, DAMHIK).

I also have a Garmin Edge ?1000, it the size of a small smart phone
and has the full color screen and full features.? The battery lasts
about 12 hours, but you can recharge while riding.? I use the
navigation feature all the time.

I don't own an Omata, but I think it is the coolest design.

The Garmin Edge 1000 you refer is not a device specially oriented for
motorcycle???????.
Its for bicycle or trekking
Read battery is for 5-6 hours and price 400 bucks ??
I have seen you can read your heart rate !! Good for curving !!

Here in Bavaria, Germany a?disaster (Katastrophenfall) was declared on Monday March 16th and this means a?there is a serious slow down. Not a shelter in place situation however. Schools closed restaurants and bars on reduced hours, with limits to the number of patrons and public events canceled. Recreation and sports facilities are closed. Work continues, but work from home is highly encouraged.?All retail shops will have to close. But these shops will remain open: all grocery stores, beverage markets, banks, pharmacies, drugstores, DIY and garden centres, medical supply stores, opticians, hearing aid specialists, post offices, pet supplies, petrol stations, dry cleaners and online shops. Public transportation will continue.?This is in effect until after April 19th, and then I assume it will be reassessed.

Toilet Paper is available.

birthday my father bought me a bicycle. Unbeknown to us he bought a

Garmin units, the tiny Edge 25, which is the size of a watch and will
give your speed, distance, time, cadence and heart rate. ?It also will

The battery is good for 8 hours if it is warm. ?(It lasts 15 minutes

I also have a Garmin Edge ?1000, it the size of a small smart phone
