Dedicated to the finest European motorcycles

Recently sold

The holy grail of 70's sporting bikes? The "Green frame" Ducati 750SS is truly the bike of legends, every year the prices get a little higher, and fewer and fewer examples come up for sale. With only 401 examples built, every one is a valuable piece of history. Once one commits to owning such a machine, then the fun part starts... trying to get a complete unmolested example.

?

Moto Borgotaro has sold this original example to a private collector who will keep it safe for years to come. Have an interesting bike to buy, sell, or trade ¡ª drop us a line first.

?

For sale

Only 17,455 examples of the R90S were built in the three model years, 1974, 1975 and 1976, with only 676 units reportedly imported into the USA. And least we forget, a race-prep. This stunning example was restored by Mark Francois?(one of his first) Mr. Francois switched obsessions from Corvettes to one?model, the R90S.

?

Oh how I love this 1975 Sport, restraint is difficult but sometimes rewarding. When I originally acquired this sport, I did a thoughtful recommissioning ¡ª carbs, breaks, forks service, etc, and left the rest alone.

?

From the Catalogue

From Laverda¡¯s second production series, the 8000 batch. This is one of only 78 machines produced from that run. One of two (known) machines that is still in its original form. A true survivor indeed.?

Locked Re: The R90S Engine Model

BTW that engine did not fit together at all well, it took a LOT of custom fitting, and parts were engineered?incorrectly. In addition, my friend the assembler is a former radio controlled airplane guy and knew how to use a lot of plastic lube to make it work properly.
I am very fortunate to have had him available to assemble it, it was a lot more work than he and I anticipated.

Oooooh... That is very cool!?

My bride won't agree to letting me keep the R90S in the living room (although I did keep my 1971 Bonneville inside my apartment when we were dating), but maybe a plastic R90S engine model would fit on the mantle.

How could she object to that?

Richard,

Some may want to relive their youth and decide to use the glue.

By the way Udo Gietl brought one of these completed R90S models to my 40th
Anniversary Rally back in September of 2019 and he couldn't say enough good
thinks about it...he was thrilled to say the least. Even sounds off like the
real deal.

Oh, yes, it's been on my Christmas list for two years now, so we'll see.

Now there is a way to do that.

The Vintage BMW Motorcycle Owners now has an "Orphan List" where you can list your email address and the frame or engine number you are looking for. So you list either the frame or engine number, with the hope of finding the "other" matching part.

To view this option, go to

and click on Knowledge Base to see the drop down to Orphan List at the bottom.

You fill in the requested information, then there is an approval process to verify your information before it goes "live", to keep the Orphan List in good order.

Good luck. Note that there have been successes doing this!
