As part of a diagnostic from my other thread, I pulled the float bowls to see if there was any unexpected bits. The good news is there was not.
When I removed the 17mm nut there was an aluminum crush washer - the same as the one used on the engine oil drain plug, being used as a washer. The Dellorto rebuild kit I have has the fiber washers, so I used those to reseal the nut. However, both float bowl nuts are now leaking. I checked to confirm the leak was not coming from the top of the float bowl.
Question, what torque value should be used to tighten this nut? I have it as tight as I feel comfortable going. My worry is if I go tighter it will strip. Should I be switching to the aluminum washers? Would Hylomar Blue be a good option for these, or is there another recommendation?
Thanks,
Scott
