OWC and Occult Usage

 

I've been pretty happy with the search function that Hristo added to OWC
in September, generally I find I'm guessing about 80% of my events using
that tool.? I find that I haven't ran Occult to find any in a month or
so.? Do those of you who use both find you get good events from Occult
that OWC search doesn't have?? I still get occasional cases where I have
a clear night (shocking!) and that of course corresponds to the almost
equally rare night when OWC search gives me nothing worth trying.

Well, given the choice, I'll stick with the source of it all - Occult4.
I just sent in a Pos event (finally got to it) that I captured on Dec 23rd. Before I sent it in I wanted to check OWC. In searching "Past Events", the event was not to be found in OWC. Yet, it was a very nice, easily recordable event (4.7km rock - mag 13.7) that Occult4 gave me a 100% Probability on. In fact in plotting it out in Google Earth, the centerline passed right thru my yard! Yet it was NOT listed on OWC.
In a single night search my Occult4 output gives me about 100 possible events withing a 30km radius of my observatory.
I also find OW(C) quite "clunky".
I think OW is a fantastic tool for coordinating events (very important), but as far as "finding" events --- No Thanks.

Actually a moot point this time of year.... I haven't had a clear night since Dec 25th (in about 3 weeks).
