开云体育Here's one I've had on my radar for quite while and have good sky conditions forecast. |
开云体育Hi Steve,I won't be able to get this event. I made a mistake in accessing whether I could get this event.? I looked at the wrong horizon data.? I looked the horizon for my remote sight, not my home site.? Turns out I'm looking right into the middle of the tree! Sorry about that. Paul Walker On 12/13/2024 7:46 PM, Paul Walker

Hi Steve, |
开云体育Only took me about 10 minutes to move everything but I did not manage to catch it. I didn't think to check where the Moon was going to be relative to the target.? It was so close that it was shining down the scope tube onto more that half the mirror.? I wasted time trying to plate solve before realized I could drape a black t-shirt over the front and only have to cover about 1/3 of front of the tube.? Before that I was thinking I had to cover the bottom half of the tube.? Of course by the time I the target, but way of center, it was about 45 seconds after the event time.? Even with my 12.5" I would likely have had to go less then the 5fps for 4 data points on the short cord I was on, which would have taken addition time to determine anyway.Live and learn. But looks like it may be a good night for viewing Jupiter and the Moon. Paul On 12/14/2024 5:37 PM, Paul Walker via
