Unfortunately our archives have been lost forever as we didn't get the conversion done on time with paying the $200 to?...:-(
With zero response from all moderators on the yahoo group. Very disappointing...

Thank you Paul!
VERY thorough. I really appreciate that!!
And WOW are they expensive. I may try modifying my stepladder to a 3legged stepladder with shelf.

I know this has been covered in the old group, but has been lost forever as we didn't get the conversion done on time with paying the $200 to groups.io...:-(

Roger, I assume that you are talking about orchard ladders, like these…

These are the ideal astronomy ladders because they are so stable. They cannot be turned over except under extraordinary circumstances, and uneven ground is no issue whatsoever. Inclines are also not an issue, unless it were to be really steep.

These are not inexpensive, and shipping will be the killer, but if you can find a local dealer who can order one to be delivered with his order of regular ladders it might work out for you. Or, you can get a regular orchard ladder from Home Depot, but it will have the 12” spacing instead of the custom 8” spacing.

?

Custom or regular, if you can get your hands on one of these guys you will never regret it.

2 questions:

1)Are those ladders that have one leg for support instead of the traditional 2 on the opposing side of the steps good on slight inclines? I struggle at Stellafane with my three step ladder I use with my 18"

2)Does anyone have a good bang-for-the-buck brand they like?

I'd like to use my UC18 for deep sky imaging.

Does anyone have suggestions on what gear I could add to my OEM UC18 with ServoCat to permit extended exposures, say 240s or more?
