Re: Our first dry run

Dennis--

Right at the moment, both of my Midland WTs are showing weird symptoms, and I'm
now not sure I can get either of them up for todays' test.? I may have to bow out,
regrettably.

1.? Make sure your radio is charged.
2.? Tune your radio to FRS CH9 at 7PM.
3.? I will begin talking then.

We will not have an agenda other than us trying out our radios to see if we are heard.? The net (radio meeting) will be open for some Q&A.? You can present your questions and concerns then.? The net should last less than half an hour.

I hope to hear from you all then!

Re: Our first dry run

No worries, Paul, Suzanne, and Gisella.? Hopefully, we can get this sorted out for next Monday.? For Suzanne and Gisella, I urge you to attend Jim Williams' Zoom presentation on how to use a walkie-talkie this Thursday.? The details are in our groups.io Calendar.

Re: Our first dry run

Okay, the radio check concluded at 7:10PM tonight.? Unfortunately, I did not hear from the rest of the group.? We will try again next Monday at 7PM.?

How to use a walkie-talkie

Hello everyone,

There is a free webinar this Thursday that will cover how to use a walkie-talkie hosted by Jim Williams from Frenchman's Creek.? Although it will refer to the Midland GTX1000 often, you can apply the same principles covered to any FRS/GMRS radio.? You don't have to own a radio to attend.?

You can sign up in advance for the Zoom meeting .?

Our Next Radio Check

We will be conducting another radio check session tomorrow night, Monday, 9/7/2020, at 7:00PM on CH9.? The Calendar says 7:30PM, I know.? But, we might need a little bit of time to make sure everyone is up and running.? If we have some time left afterwards, we can open up the Net for a little Q&A.

Re: Our Next Radio Check

So, we have a partial success this week for our radio check.?

Two radio operators were able to hear me but not each other.? I have to conclude that it has something to do with the GXT1000 and similar walkies limiting transmit power to only 0.5W for CH9.? So, from now on, we will SWITCH to CH2.? CH2 is at 462.587.5MHz.? Please switch your walkies to CH2 and set the transmit power to "M" for 2W.?

Remember, use CH2 from now on.

If you have any questions, please present them here and I will try my best to address them.? Thank you.
