We have made the decision to move to N1MM this year for Logging. The plan is to keep the GOTA station OFF the network due to the duping situation for that call (KE4UW). I have a USB key where I built an N1MM.bat file to install the program, apply the the latest SW, install the parallel port driver (PORT95NT) if using NT/2000/XP which is necessary for CW. The install takes about 5 minutes. The ony thing necessary after install is to configure the serial interface for frequency information for the particular radio being interfaced. I have the necessary documentation for most radios including the Elecraft K2. If you feel ambitious you can download the latest at N1MM.com before Thursday. I'll be there Thursday through the duration with the exception of Thursday late afternoon and evening.

Jim,
I will try to down load it and get it installed ahead of time.
Is there a particular version number we should all be using?

Dave R, EXCELLENT POINT!! Attention anyone downloading N1MM! We must all be running the same version for networking. SO, therefore I am going to designate Version 5.0.118 as the FD 2005 version. Thanks for taking care of this before FD. This version is NOT on the Yahoo groups files, but is on the N1MM site and is on my USB Key when you get to field day, just ask me for it. I was fooling around with this version today. I have never used N1MM. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to change modes or bands. It looks like it is very dependent on following rig control. Is it possible to rig up one COM port to do double duty as both CW sending and rig control? Looks like I'm going to have to whip up a circuit for that. On Jun 20, 2005, at 4:12 PM, Jim Nail wrote: Dave R,

Hi
Bill,
?
The
best way to make this work is to use the com port for freq control and the
parallel port for CW.? Not jittery CW if it's kept on the parallel
port.? You need a level shift using a 2N2222 and resister to pull up.?
I'll check my doc to see what I can send you.? Yes it plays extremely well
if the radio is connected, but not much to show if it's not.

Once you have the manual (available for download from N1MM.com), it's easy!? But it sure ain't intuitive either.
To change band:
(1) Enter a frequency in the call field, OR
(2) Click on one of the band buttons on the "Available mults and Q's" window, OR
(3) CTRL-Pageup goes up one band, CTRL pagedown goes down one band, OR
(4) Use rig control and it does it in auto
To change mode:
(1) Enter a mode (LSB, USB, RTTY, CW, DIGI, PSK, AM, FM) in the call field, OR
(2) Click on the mode field in the Bandmaps window, OR
(3) Let rig control take care of it
To change operator:
(1) Hit CTRL-O and enter operator
To tab from field to field:
(1) Use the space bar (skips fields not normally modified), OR
(2) Use the tab key
(3) Shift-tab moves back one field
To edit a logged QSO:
(1) CTRL-Q (Quick edit) allows you to edit the previous QSO.? Pressing CTRL-Q again moves to the previous QSO, so you can work your way back through the log
(2) CTRL-Y allows edit of the previous QSO only
I'm sure there are other handy ones to know.? Maybe someone has a cheat sheet.? If you email me one today, I can laminate some tonight to have one for each station.
