FW: New N4N_Field_Day member

Moss, Dave J \(INPO\)

Welcome to Bill AA4LR, another new member of the N4N gang! Bill can do phone, CW, or digital, and is bringing a trailer we could use for one of the CW stations (up to you CW guys).

I also talked to Phil N4NBL today and he's going to join us Saturday, and wants to operate digital. Good match--we need some digital folks too.

Think Field Day! Top 10 or bust!

Bill and the Group,
?
Instead of the 2.2 KW Generator, I can get the 6.8KW Generator, which would run the AC continuous if we wanted.? It's available for the asking, so I'll ask!!
?
Jim

Yes, I plan to tow the trailer out to that neck of the woods on Friday after work. So, I'm afraid I'll miss much of the setup Friday, but I'll be there overnight and ready to start Saturday morning with any last-minute work.

Just leave me a space for a 21 foot travel trailer. We can set up the rig on the dinette, and I can bring a K2/100, antenna tuner, windows laptop, Mac laptop (for RTTY / PSK), 1600 watt generator and a 37 gal tank full of fresh water.

I can operate whereever you like. Whatever you need most.

So long as it has a 30 amp plug, that will work. The AC draws about 18 amps on startup of the compressor. I can use an adaptor for the common 15 amp plug, but these can get awfully warm.... I have a 15-20 foot 30 amp extension, and I can also bring a 25 foot 12-2 extension (which can handle 20 amps max) -- but it would have to use the 15 amp adapter.

I'm bringing a Honda eu2000i generator, which can do 2000 watts peak for 30 minutes, or 1600 watts continuously. That will easily run a rig, lights, fans for a couple of stations, and it gets pretty good economy out of a tank of gas (up to 15 hours on 1.1 gallons)

Sounds great, Bill. We'll keep a place for you close to the CW tent.
As luck would have it, that's near the gate, so we can easily avoid
blocking access to it.

Think FD!

Hello Bill.

Gosh, that K2/100 might be a great CW rig for Field
Day, but we have to PRE-test it before letting you use
it.

May I request you drop it off here at my house ASAP?
I'll give it a good test for the next couple of weeks
and let you know if it's okay to use for Field Day or
not.

He he he . . .

Sure wish I was gonna be there to play with that rig
this year. I've heard so many good things about
K2's!!!

Cheers;

-Tim, WK4U

No, for that you'd have to come to my house in Gwinnett county and pick it up....

It's no FT-1000MP, but it's a lot of rig in a small package.
