Finally made a few satellite QSOs!

开云体育

Thanks to the hard work by Eddie figuring out how SAT32PC works, and the really hard work by Eddie to jam enough of that information between my ears, I successfully made a few contacts via the RS-44 satellite this afternoon.? Wow, FINALLY!

?

I managed one contact on July 3, but only through the exemplary skills and extraordinary patience of K0JM Mark in Minneapolis.? He stuck with me as I wandered around in frequency, at least long enough to complete the QSO.? But it was rather embarrassing showing the world I still didn’t know how to do this properly.? Since then Eddie gave me more remedial instruction, and today was much more successful.?

?

If you need someone to teach you how to do this, Eddie is your man.? Patient, persistent, and will/can actually thoroughly RTFM.

?

I know I got it right today.? After some additional help from Eddie I managed to upload the QSOs to LOTW, and damned if all five weren’t already confirmed.? I guess satellite ops are pretty good at uploading to LOTW.?

?

Eddie, thanks a million.? I don’t think I’m 100 percent there yet, so don’t throw away all your crib notes.? But it was a heck of an afternoon.? ?

Great progress, and a good accomplishment for any ham!

Thanks for sharing, and thanks for encouraging the rest of us to get on the Satellites. ?

Eddie, I’ve got you on speed dial and will be calling one of these days. I need a rig, and to to re-read your presentation first!

It was my pleasure Dave. You're too generous. Figuring it out for the both of us!?

Ham radio is about helping each other.?

Now I know how to use SatPC32 to work with the IC-9700 and the homebrew EasyComm mini satellite antenna controller too!

RS-44 is currently easiest, with up to15 minute passes, but once I would have leaned to CAS-4A/B, or XW-4... but I fear they are now weak and failing.

Oh by the way, RTFM ! ?
