Remaining equipment needs for Field Day

开云体育

During our planning net tonight, we identified only a few things that we still need for Field day:

?

(1)? A couple of 4-port or 5-port network switches for the computer network

(2)? Folding banquet tables for operating positions (KE4UW has 5, Gary WB4SQ has 2, Tim WK4U has 1). ?We need at least four, preferable six more.?

(3)? Sheets of plywood about 4’ x 4’ (or thereabouts) to use as sound baffles for the generators

(4)? Folding metal chairs, or any other chair that would be comfortable for operating.? Trust me, the “chairs-in-a-bag” are NOT what we need—great for relaxing, terrible for operating.

(5)? Heavy gauge (10 ga or larger) extension cords to run power from the generators to the operating tents.

?

?

We also still need a few folks to help with setup on Friday at 2pm.? We have KE4ENI, KE4UW, KN6RO, KT4XN, W5BJV, WA2MBP, and WB4SQ who plan to be there.? That’s not quite enough to raise any beams safely, much less the seven or eight we are trying to get up.? We really need another four or five folks minimum.

Hello Bill.

Gosh, that K2/100 might be a great CW rig for Field

So long as it has a 30 amp plug, that will work. The AC draws about
18 amps on startup of the compressor. I can use an adaptor for the
common 15 amp plug, but these can get awfully warm.... I have a 15-20

I'm bringing a Honda eu2000i generator, which can do 2000 watts peak
for 30 minutes, or 1600 watts continuously. That will easily run a
rig, lights, fans for a couple of stations, and it gets pretty good
economy out of a tank of gas (up to 15 hours on 1.1 gallons)

Hey gang,
?
At a planning meeting a couple weeks ago, we discussed options for?the site prep (grass cutting, tree trimming for RV access), and it?seemed like the best bet was?on Saturday, June 11.? Tom KT4XN indicated he would be available, along with his lawn tractor to do the grass cutting.? Can any others help out with the site prep?? Tree trimming should be fairly easy?(compared to 2003), as there won't be any 6-inch diameter limbs to cut.? Only two years' growth--so much easier.
?
The bad news is that I have to be in Boston Saturday-Wednesday, so I won't be around to help.? Can we get a critical mass of folks to help?Tom out?
?
A couple of things to ponder:
?
(1)? If we don't get this done this weekend, Tom is not available the following weekend.? So if we move to June 18 we'll need someone else to step up with the grass.
?
(2)? If we don't get this done the next?two weekends, we will either have to set up in tall grass/weeds (not really an option), or?wedge this into the Friday setup time (also not really an option if we are going to set up antennas for 9 stations).??
?
So, hopefully we can get three or four more folks to help out Saturday June 11.? Should take only a couple hours.???

Dave.

I haven't confirmed this with Lori. (She's asleep
right now), but that morning should work for me. I
assume it will be in the morning???

I'll follow up with her tomorrow on that and get back
with you. Ohhh, you won't be there - he he. Who is
determining the TIME for this shindig? Location for
BBQ (important!) etc...

Hey gang,

At a planning meeting a couple weeks ago, we
discussed options for the
site prep (grass cutting, tree trimming for RV
access), and it seemed
like the best bet was on Saturday, June 11. Tom
KT4XN indicated he
would be available, along with his lawn tractor to
do the grass cutting.
Can any others help out with the site prep? Tree
trimming should be
fairly easy (compared to 2003), as there won't be
any 6-inch diameter
limbs to cut. Only two years' growth--so much
easier.

The bad news is that I have to be in Boston
Saturday-Wednesday, so I
won't be around to help. Can we get a critical mass
of folks to help
Tom out?

A couple of things to ponder:

(1) If we don't get this done this weekend, Tom is
not available the
following weekend. So if we move to June 18 we'll
need someone else to
step up with the grass.

(2) If we don't get this done the next two
weekends, we will either
have to set up in tall grass/weeds (not really an
option), or wedge this
into the Friday setup time (also not really an
option if we are going to
set up antennas for 9 stations).

So, hopefully we can get three or four more folks to
help out Saturday
June 11. Should take only a couple hours.
