Re: CW Setup

BTW, refresh my memory on which exit on I-20 to take for the site. I
remember that you could go out the major
highway and turn left or go an exit or two further for the road that
zig-zags.

Are we doing breakfast somewhere first in the morning?

I have the headsets and pigtails for the TS-950 (20m phone) and
FT1000
(10/80m phone)
I believe Tom Crowley has the headset and pigtail for his TS-2000 (15m
phone)
Eric, do you have a headset for the ICOM 765 (40m phone)? If not
maybe
someone has one we can use.
I believe Dave Rice has a headset/pigtail for the TS-2000 (VHF/UHF)
Since the GOTA station will generally have a control op helping the
operator, I plan to use a mic/speaker

That's it for the phone stations. I have a couple Kenwood headphones
(no mic) that I'll have if needed for CW or digital. I also have
several splitters if anyone wants to have a logger/helper listen in
with
separate headphones.

Summary: I believe we are all set with heil headsets for everything
except maybe the Icom 765. Eric, what do you need?

Tom,
Could you bring the operators manual for the CW station
to the
Saturday work party?
I need to check the "ports" and "jacks" for hooking in
the Writelog
keyer, paddle, and possibly an external keyer if needed.

Also will there be 12V, low current, (Anderson
Connector) at the CW
operating position? It may be needed to power the
keyer.

I am aware that the rig probably has an internal keyer.
But,
depending on the jack(s) for straight key and/or paddle,
we may need
to run straight key for the Writelog program, and put a
keyer on in
a "Y". The paddles would plug into the external keyer
in this case.

Details needed...

Thanks
Mike, NE4S

Re: CW Setup

It would be nice to have a headset for the GOTA station if possible. Some of us Tech operators may want to use a headset :)

Subject: RE: [n4n_field_day] CW Setup

I have the headsets and pigtails for the TS-950 (20m phone) and FT1000
(10/80m phone)
I believe Tom Crowley has the headset and pigtail for his TS-2000 (15m
phone)
Eric, do you have a headset for the ICOM 765 (40m phone)? If not maybe
someone has one we can use.

I also have
several splitters if anyone wants to have a logger/helper listen in with
separate headphones.

Summary: I believe we are all set with heil headsets for everything
except maybe the Icom 765. Eric, what do you need?

Dave

Tom,
Could you bring the operators manual for the CW station
to the
Saturday work party?
I need to check the "ports" and "jacks" for hooking in
the Writelog
keyer, paddle, and possibly an external keyer if needed.

Also will there be 12V, low current, (Anderson
Connector) at the CW
operating position? It may be needed to power the
keyer.

I am aware that the rig probably has an internal keyer.
But,
depending on the jack(s) for straight key and/or paddle,
we may need
to run straight key for the Writelog program, and put a
keyer on in
a "Y". The paddles would plug into the external keyer
in this case.

Details needed...

Thanks

CW Setup

ne4s

Tom,
Could you bring the operators manual for the CW station to the
Saturday work party?
I need to check the "ports" and "jacks" for hooking in the Writelog
keyer, paddle, and possibly an external keyer if needed.

Also will there be 12V, low current, (Anderson Connector) at the CW
operating position? It may be needed to power the keyer.

I am aware that the rig probably has an internal keyer. But,
depending on the jack(s) for straight key and/or paddle, we may need
to run straight key for the Writelog program, and put a keyer on in
a "Y". The paddles would plug into the external keyer in this case.

Details needed...

Thanks
Mike, NE4S

Mike, last year I stayed fairly high and no problems. Not sure if it gets
real wet. I think we can look over the site for egress.

Hey gang!

We've got several things in the mill for Field Day that require some
information on who will be at the site when. We want to put together a
schedule for operators (based on requests from last year), but we also
need
to find out: (1) if we will have the critical mass we need for putting up
towers on Friday evening/Saturday morning and taking towers down on
Sunday;
(2) How many we will have on-site from about 12:00-2:00pm Saturday for the
(weather-permitting) first ever N4N kick-off barbecue; (3) How many we
will
have for dinner Saturday and lunch Sunday.

So, if you could, please let me know as soon as you can when you plan to
be
at the site. Bring along a friend, the XYL, or the kids if you'd like
(let
us know so we'll have food). Any extra help we can get for Friday evening
or Sunday afternoon would really be great!

To give you an idea of what's going on here's a basic schedule:

9:00am Thursday: Arrive at site and begin setup of RV, tents,
tables/chairs, computer network, generators and AC distribution, and
basically everything but stations and antennas (KE4UW, KN6RO, and KT4XN so
far)

Thursday evening: Relax and enjoy a cool one

Friday morning: Continue setup of camp as needed, test computer
network, etc

Friday 2:00pm: Begin assembly of antennas and towers, hang wire
antennas, setup stations, test rig/computer interfaces, etc.

Friday evening: Raise as many towers as possible (need at least 8
people to do this safely), copy ARRL bulletin, dinner at the catfish
restaurant in Hiram.

Saturday morning: Complete any station setup or tower erection, test for
interference among stations (if not done Friday), troubleshoot any
problems

Saturday noon: Picnic lunch (weather permitting), brief
indoctrination
for operators, primer on Writelog.

Saturday 2:00pm: Field Day operation begins!

Saturday evening: Pizza dinner (delivery, if possible)

Sunday 2:00 pm: Field Day operation ceases. Barbecue lunch and
gathering
of good ideas for next year.

Sunday 2:30 pm: Dissambly of antennas and towers, packing and cleanup

So, choose your activities, arrange the hall passes, and please let me
know
as soon as possible when you plan to be there. If you have preference for
bands/modes you do or don't want to operate, let me know that and we'll
accommodate those as well.

Think Field Day!

Roger.

Looks like the whole application isn't a free download
for people that DON'T have it. I'll bring a laptop
too. Do you suggest I wait to get the application
with patches installed at the Field Day site?

The last few updates have done wonders with the
