Re: Field Day 2003
Tim Lemmon
Personally, I'm not sure I saw too much that went bad.
Yeah the network wasn't 100%, and the generators went out once or twice while I was there, but was that due to poor planning? I don't think so. I think the massive prior planning showed itself in many ways while I was there on Saturday! I would be glad to join the group again next year. I suspect my schedule will be more free and I'll help out with some planning too. Maybe I'll even operate as well as Jim and Mike? (the real CW pros). The efforts of some wives and all the hardware we had was real fun. Dave, hats off to you for working so much to make it a success this year. I had a fun 12 hours with you guys on Saturday! -Tim, WK4U __________________ --- Dave Moss <mossdj@...> wrote: Hey gang! __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! Field Day 2003
Dave Moss
Hey gang!
Made it home, unpacked the truck, had some supper, got myself buffed and polished, but all I can think about was "man, that was fun". We set out to make 3,000 QSOs and 10,000 points and the early read was that we probably beat both by 10 percent or so. Not bad at all, especially with 6 through 15 meter bands being in such poor shape compared to years past. Can't wait to see the final tally of the score. Thanks for all the help getting everything put up, and especially with getting everything down and loaded. Couldn't have done it without you! Be thinking about what went well, what went not-so-well, and what we can/should do different next time. Somebody mentioned this afternoon we may get together this coming week (I can't remember who is coordinating--sorry, it was a busy afternoon). That's when we'll share lessons learned and, well, yea, start planning for next year. Think Field Day, 2004! Dave KE4UW |
>> FYI: N4N Field Day Web site, many more pictures added....
FYI, I have added many more pictures to the "Field Day" Web site:
I believe the N4N team is well over 1,000 QSOs -- made up of phone, CW, Satellite, GOTA station, an impromtu "midnight" 80M phone station, and over 50 6M QSOs (6 states) during a "dead band". See eveybody next year! 73 de KE4eni.. Age is only a number, a cipher for the records. A man can't retire his experience. He must use it. Special Final Planning Net Thursday 9pm
In discussions this morning, we thought it a good idea to have a
final planning session to cover last minute pop-up items and issues. This will be a good chance to look for missing items and dicuss the findings of those already on-site. Lets meet on 147.105 repeater at 9pm for a short net. Net Control will KE4UW. KD4SHH can be backup Net Control if needed. See yall there....KD4SHH - Dave |

I mentioned a while back that I'd bring a laptop with
both 100BASET and 802.11b connectivity. It doesn't have the logging application loaded on it, but that shouldn't take too long to fix! -Tim _____________ --- Roger Hackler <rhackler@...> wrote: Gang: __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI¡¯ve got my stuff loaded and in the process thought of a couple things. ? We could use a few more box fans.? I¡¯m bringing 3, but with the one large tent, a ¡°hangout tent¡±, Tom¡¯s awning, a satellite setup somewhere, and maybe an ¡°air conditioning booster fan¡± in Phil¡¯s trailer, we could probably use 3 or 4 more. ?Good for keeping folks cool and keeping mosquitoes at bay. ?
