Dave,

I will be there on Friday afternoon to help set up except if work call at the last minute. I was thinking about going around 1 or 2 oclock.

Thanks for the offer. Eric may end up with a conflict on FD weekend,

We're trying to get things spread around so no one person has
more
than two stations to worry about, preferably only one.
The plan is to use KT4XN's IC-775 on 40m CW, and Tim's TS-850 on
20m CW. Jim, if you take two CW stations, those are the two
highest priority. If we could get some else to take on one of
the
CW stations, we can make much better use of the folks available
when we set them up Friday night. Also, if we get enough
operators to have a third station, we'll still need yet one more
person to take the lead for another CW station (likely Jim's
TS-570).
On phone, I've got 40m, Eric has 20m (still a maybe), and I have
15/80m. KT4XN has GOTA, KD4SHH has vhf/uhf, AA4RC has
satellite,
and KN6RO has digital. We could use someone to pick up one of
the
phone stations as well. If we get enough setup help, we might
add
another phone station and have separate ones on 10/80 and on
15/160. We could use separate station captains for those two.

Hey gang,
In putting together some notes for a Field Day planning net,
I'm gathering a list of things we need. Rather than try to
work it all out during the net, I'm hoping to identify some
solutions beforehand. I'm assuming that many of you folks
will take on the same things you did last year (Robin on
satellite, Dave R. on VHF/UHF, Roger on digital, etc)--my
thanks for you guys' support again. However, there are a
few
holes where folks who took thinks on last year won't be
available this year. Can anybody help with any of the
following:

* AC generators (we have Tom's RV and KD4SHH 5KW; need
two more 3-5 KW generators)
* Heavy gauge extension cords (10ga or larger: I have
two
25-footers, need several more)
* 5ft or 6ft banquet tables (we have 5 from KE4UW, need
7
or 8 more at least)
* Laptop computers for logging (have 6, from WA2MBP,
KE4UW, KN6RO, KT4XN, KD4SHH, AA4RC; need at least 4
more, maybe 6 more)

In addition to the hardware, we need folks to take on a few
activities. Note that we don't need anyone to go buy any
equipment, but rather to find out who in the group has what
you need, confirm it will be coming to field day, and put it
all together once we get there. The only expense is a bit
of
time. So, can anyone take on:

* AC power guru to oversee design and installation of AC
power to tents (identify generators, extension cords,
power strips, gas cans, etc)
* Station captains for two CW stations and one phone
station (we have equipment, but need folks to pick up,
assemble and test equipment, bring to FD, set up)
* Coordinator for bonus points for 5 QSOs on alternate
power
* Coordinator for bonus points for initiating message to
Section Manager
* Coordinator for bonus points for handling 10 messages
(packet?)
* Coordinator for bonus points for visits by elected
official and/or served agency official

I think you'll see that, all things considered, the list is
pretty short. We're in good shape in most areas.

Tuesday Planning Net for FD

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

How about Tuesday 9pm for the Field Day planning net?? Nobody responding to the poll on the yahoo group indicated a preference for Monday over Tuesday, so I propose we go with Tuesday, 9pm as we did last year.

?

Poll results show 2m is the best bet, so let¡¯s plan on 147.105, + offset, PL 107.2 for the net.

?

Hope to see you there!?

Hello. If anyone would like to install the N1MM Logging programs
they're on the files section of this Yahoo Group. This SW is Free,
but it does take about an hour to setup properly (not including
MMTTY for RTTY support). Read the Install Document First. You will
have to go to to download the N1MM.ZIP
file since it will not fit (over the 5MB limit) on the Yahoo Groups
site. Every other file necessary is posted in our group. These
files are:

N1MM Install Document (Read This First)
NewexeV5.0.98.zip (Latest Progam Update)
N1MMLoggerHelp.chm (N1MM Windows Help File)
port95nt.exe (Configures Parallel ports for keying)
wl_cty.dat (Latest Country File)
MASUSVE.DTA (Master US/VE callsign database for duping)
MMTTY165D.zip (RTTY Files)

There is a separate yahoo group just for N1MM. Go to www.n1mm.com

ALDI has a KingCraft 4-cycle 2500W AC generator for $200 while they last, at their Conyers, Duluth, Fayetteville, Jonesboro, Kennesay, L¡¯ville, Lithonia, Mableton, Marietta, Smyrna, and Stockbridge stores starting 5/31. It also has an 8.3A DC output (but probably not simultaneously). Not super-hefty, but a cheap addition to your ARES jump-kit or for powering a couple of Field Day rigs.

Subject: Field Day 2005!!

?

Hey gang,

?

Field Day 2005 is rapidly approaching!? It's time to start finalizing some plans.??Among the priorities is getting a decent head count for how many folks we will have for setup and teardown, as well as operators during the?contest.? If you haven't already, please take a minute to complete the polls on the yahoo group to help us get a head count.? We'll be missing a couple of regulars this year due to family commitments, but we'll gain back a couple who couldn't participate last year.? Looks like we should have about the same size crew, only without the folks from PARC who helped us quite a bit last year with setup and teardown?(as well?as?a few hundred QSOs).? Any help with Friday setup and Sunday teardown will really be appreciated.

?

Keep an eye on the yahoo?group at ?, as that is the primary means of sharing fast-breaking news.? Expect lots of activity for the next month.?

?

From preliminary responses in April, it looks like we should have 15 or so folks:

¡¤???????? We have?11 folks who indicated they are firmly in:?AA4RC-Robin, KD4SHH-Dave, KE4ENI-John, KE4UW-Dave, KF4TJY-Shane, KG4IUL-Nancy, KG4SKB-Margaret, KN6RO-Roger, KT4XN-Tom, WA2MBP-Jim, WB4SQ-Gary, (11 folks)

¡¤???????? We have another?4 folks that are pretty strong maybe's:? W5BJV-Marcel, WA2BCK-Tom (Jim's brother), WB8VTK-Eric,?and Tim-WO0LY?

¡¤???????? Several others have expressed interest this year:? K9MUG (Darrell), K4SB (Ed), W2DNO (Stan).? If you know any of these folks, please encourage them to join the yahoo group and get involved!

¡¤???????? Still haven't heard from some former participants or others on the yahoo group who have expressed interest in the past:? KE4WIO-Tom, N4NBL-Phil, N8EKA-Vester, KG4VTY-Art.? Again, if you?chat with?any of these folks, please encourage them to join in.

¡¤???????? Biggest needs are CW ops, and a couple of digital/RTTY ops

Good news from Eric--he has confirmed availability of the site at the Fuller's farm in Hiram, GA (Paulding County) that we have used for the past four Field Day operations.? Setup should be similar to what we've had the past?few years:

¡¤???????? Tom Crowley KT4XN will have his motor home at the site with a few amenities to make life a bit better (like indoor plumbing).? Thanks Tom.

¡¤???????? We'll have the two white 20ft x 10ft tents for operating positions, one for phone, one for SSB

¡¤???????? We'll also have the 20ft x 12ft screen tent and the awning on the RV to provide shade and weather protection, and we can use them for more operating positions if we have enough operators to grow a bit

¡¤???????? We'll have a few tents for sleeping (bring a cot or air mattress!)

¡¤???????? We should have 150W radios for 3 phone stations (TS-950, FT-1000, TS-480HX) and one CW station (IC-775).? Other stations will have 100W radios (TS-850, TS-2000's, TS-480SAT, FT-920, IC-765).? Looking good with the rigs.?

¡¤???????? We have lots of beams and Rohn 25, and can support:? Disc 7-2, TA-33, and 15-3BA on phone; TA-33 and 40m yagi on CW; A3 on digital/GOTA.? We also have an Explorer-14 (w/40m), DB-10-15, 10-4CD and others if we need them.? We have 7 or 8 rotors available (Ham 2, 3, 4) plus some TV rotators.? Looking good with antennas, towers,?rotors.?

¡¤???????? We don't have a firm handle yet on who has generators available--if you have one that we can use, please let us know.? The arrangement last year of having one generator dedicated to (and a short extension cord run to) each operating tent worked well.? We'll need two or three generators.? KD4SHH?? WB8VTK?

Depending on how many folks we have for setup, looks like we should plan on setting up:

¡¤???????? 3 stations on HF phone--40m, 20m, 15/80m

¡¤???????? 2 stations on HF CW--40m,?15/20/80m

¡¤???????? 1 station on HF digital--10-40m

¡¤???????? VHF/UHF station

¡¤???????? satellite station

¡¤???????? GOTA station (share antennas with digital)

This would have us raising 6 towers (40m, 20m, 15m phone; 40m and tribander on CW; tribander on digital), plus the satellite and VHF stations.? Based on past experience, this will take a minimum of 9 folks who can be available 2pm till dusk on Friday and 8am till noon on Saturday.? If we have fewer for setup, we can scale back to match the labor available.?

For those who haven¡¯t already, PLEASE complete the poll on the yahoo group regarding when you plan to be at the Field Day site. ?The availability of people to operate stations, and even more important, to set up and tear down, is incredibly important to the planning effort.? From the info we have so far (i.e. two people to set up on Friday), we ²¹¾±²Ô¡¯³Ù going to be able to put up much in the way of antennas.? We¡¯re only a few weeks away, so we really need to know who plans to be there Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning.

?

So, (grovel, grovel), PLEASE complete the polls so we can make some definite plans on how big of an operation we¡¯ll have.

?

Thanks to KG4IUL-Nancy, KN6RO-Roger, and KD4SHH¡ªDave for sharing ¡°the plan¡±.

?

OK. I guess we have a critical mass--WA2MBP, KT4XN, WB4SQ, and me. 5pm
Saturday at my place. Any others who can make it are welcome.

Directions: (from the Big Chicken, of course)

Take 120 (Roswell Rd) East towards Roswell. Turn left at Old Canton (QT
gas station on right, SaveRite grocery on left), then right at the next
light (Sewell Mill Rd). Left at the next light (about 1/4 mile) onto
Murdock Rd. Once you pass Murdock Elementary School on the right, make
the next right onto Casteel Rd. Make the first left onto Twin Lakes
Drive.

Our house is 3143 Twin Lakes Drive, the second house on the left once
you pass a small cul-de-sac.

Home phone is 770-579-0673. Cell phone is 678-467-1638.

See ya there at 5pm Saturday!

I do have the CW filter but no interface. I will be able to come to the site on the Friday.

Marcel,

Thanks for the offer. Eric may end up with a conflict on FD weekend,
and if so, we could use your TS-940 for 20m phone. If you have the
narrow CW filters (500Hz or better), it might also play well for a CW
station. Do you have the IF-232 and IC-10 chip to be able to interface
with the logging software?

Will you be able to come out to the site the Friday before FD (June 24)
to set up and test the radio/computer interface/networking? \

have time to get it setup, interfaced and tested the weekend before
FD. Is that OK with you? I can either make a lunch trip say on
Thursday or Friday of the previous week (June 16th or 17th) or you can
drive by here.

We're trying to get things spread around so no one person has more
than two stations to worry about, preferably only one.
The plan is to use KT4XN's IC-775 on 40m CW, and Tim's TS-850 on
20m CW. Jim, if you take two CW stations, those are the two
highest priority. If we could get some else to take on one of the
CW stations, we can make much better use of the folks available
when we set them up Friday night. Also, if we get enough
operators to have a third station, we'll still need yet one more
person to take the lead for another CW station (likely Jim's
TS-570).
On phone, I've got 40m, Eric has 20m (still a maybe), and I have
15/80m. KT4XN has GOTA, KD4SHH has vhf/uhf, AA4RC has satellite,
and KN6RO has digital. We could use someone to pick up one of the
phone stations as well. If we get enough setup help, we might add
another phone station and have separate ones on 10/80 and on
15/160. We could use separate station captains for those two.

I'll take on the two CW Stations and One SSB Station as noted

we put on the air?

Hey gang,
In putting together some notes for a Field Day planning net,
I'm gathering a list of things we need. Rather than try to
work it all out during the net, I'm hoping to identify some
solutions beforehand. I'm assuming that many of you folks
will take on the same things you did last year (Robin on
satellite, Dave R. on VHF/UHF, Roger on digital, etc)--my
thanks for you guys' support again. However, there are a few
holes where folks who took thinks on last year won't be
available this year. Can anybody help with any of the
following:

* AC generators (we have Tom's RV and KD4SHH 5KW; need
two more 3-5 KW generators)
* Heavy gauge extension cords (10ga or larger: I have two
25-footers, need several more)
* 5ft or 6ft banquet tables (we have 5 from KE4UW, need 7
or 8 more at least)
* Laptop computers for logging (have 6, from WA2MBP,
KE4UW, KN6RO, KT4XN, KD4SHH, AA4RC; need at least 4
more, maybe 6 more)

In addition to the hardware, we need folks to take on a few
activities. Note that we don't need anyone to go buy any
equipment, but rather to find out who in the group has what
you need, confirm it will be coming to field day, and put it
all together once we get there. The only expense is a bit of
