HRI IC M710 RadioEmulation rig control with Virtual Serial Port Emulation settings (For Ham Programs that use HamLib, RigCat etc.)
I am currently using these HRI settings with IC M710, VSPE,? USB Signalink soundcard interface to ACC 1 for VOX PTT and TX/RX Audio, USB to clone port cable for FLDIGI and WSJT-X but it will also work with a homebrew RS-422 DB-9 M710 Remote port to soundcard/USB to RS-232 serial cable. |

Re: new member
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýTom,
I recent new feature to Visual Studios version of HRI is where HRI emulates a Kenwood TS2000 radio via a Virtual comport. So, any software written to control a TS2000 can command HRI - and HRI will then do the equivalent function to the ICOM Marine radio. You might want to try again using this new feature as I think everyone writing Amateur Radio software supports the TS2000. Regards, Howard On 3/5/2017 15:37, tomdwatt via Groups.Io wrote:

Re: Errors with IC-M710 marine radio

Sorry for my delayed answer but Internet access here is a little complicated and expensive. Thanks: I did what you say and start working better, but still with some issues, but i can use it now. I start working in a RS422 cable for another test, I'll let you know Thank you again Bob |
Re: Errors with IC-M710 marine radio
I reread my comment and it confused me. So let me try again. Even though you are using the Clone pin jack set the IC M710 to use the d-sub in the Set Mode menu. Hopefully this works for your version. I have the General version "opened up" not the Marine or GMDSS versions. Using the clone pin and ACC1 connections make for a neater and easier to use interface with many programs but the Remote db-9 rs422 has better communications with HRI but I have caved in and use the Clone pin Acc1 with a Signalink. Like I said with this setup every HRI command is followed by the M710 but the HRI indicators: S meter, power meter, are less reliable. |
Re: Errors with IC-M710 marine radio
Turn off ICm710. Press and hold "Function" and "1"? while powering back up again. Try "d-Sub REMT-IF" selection not Pin or clone. I know you are using the clone jack but this is what works for me. It is not as good as using the rs422 remote port connection but everything changes on the radio 100% but some of the feedback indicators in HRI do not update when using the clone pin as they do with the rs422 remote db9 connector. Put ferrites on all cables. Tom KC1GTU |
Re: Errors with IC-M710 marine radio
Roberto,
Every command to the radio, and from the radio begins with "$PICOA" and ends with a checksum.? The communications are all ascii printable characters.? It looks like your ICOM interface is faulty with crazy unprintable characters being erroneously entered into the bit-stream. Since Tom tested with his Icom 710, I do not believe there are any communications problems with HRI.? I can not help you with your home-made radio interface because I do not have an ICOM marine radio and am not knowledgeable about the interface.

Errors with IC-M710 marine radio
Roberto Ibarra
Hello Howard: I'm amateur radio operator for 25 years now, my calls are CO2KL
(Cuba extra class) and KM2KL(USA extra), my main interests are DX
and contesting. This is my first post, I finally build an Icom interface for my IC-M710, so I start testing HRI VS version, you did a great job (thank you) and I get my radio connected in my first try BUT.... I get a number of errors while I test HRI, those errors are listed here, hope you can help me, as this is my first and only radio. Let me describe you my working conditions: HRI Version: HRI VS 20161226 PC: Core I5 Laptop, Windows
10, 6Gb RAM, SSD 120Gb. Interface USB - RS232: FTDI CI-V Interface: Home made CT-17 (2 transistors) I can program the radio via EX1726.exe under DOS environment, in that conditions I can change all programmables options in the radio, so I believe CI-V is working just fine. In HRI:
Turning ON, all looks good, with "minor errors", as you can see here

Re: Visual Studios HRI version 25 DEC 2016
I think it makes sense to use 64bit software (when available) for a 64bit windows machine.
In the case of device drivers like VSPE it is probably necessary. Howard On December 25, 2016 9:08:41 PM EST, "tomdwatt via Groups.Io" <[email protected]> wrote:
