mach4 license

I wasted a lot of time trying to get wifi working on my shop computer. I had told myself I never wanted wifi on it so I disabled a bunch of windows services and then tried enabling them again. Anyway short story. I completely fucked up the computer the last step was windows restore making a total mess of it. Fortunately I have a drive image made with Macrium Reflect and was able to save the mach4 config files and restore the computer to April 2021 which was fortunately after installing mach4 and getting most stuff like the Smoothstepper to work

So I am back to working again but am wondering what it take to switch computers. I have an almost identical one that has wifi built in so it has a better chance.

I got the license from Brian Barker and his email seems to be no longer valid. The license was generated from my computers PCID so it needs to be generated again for a different computer. I have tried to register but am meeting with an unbelievable array of problems. My satellite connection takes hours of fiddling to get it to connect to a secure site. So what should take a minute (just logging on to a secure site) can take hours of waiting and trying again, then making some progress and then not being able to get to the site. I find it difficult to believe that Viasat actually charges for this and no support can do nothing about it other than agree that Viasat is fucked in so many ways and is never going to change.

So how do I switch mach4 to my backup computer?

You don't have to actually take the computer to a different site. All you need is the PCID from the target computer. Use MAch4's
Help>About to copy the PCID to the clipboard and then save it as a text file on a USB memory stick. Then log into MachSupport.com
and generate the license using the PCID from the memory stick. Get the license and save it back on the memory stick for transport
back to the target computer.

I made some progress and was able to create a new account but then how do I transfer my license? So I tried logging on to the old account for which I found details in my password folder but now am encountering this error again and can not get pat it. Maybe Machsupport does have authenticity issues and maybe i need a different browser? maybe it is not Viasat but all problems seem to be caused by them?

will try a different browser. Going to town tomorrow so can try to find wifi somewhere.

i have the pcid copied, did that a while ago in case the computer died. problem is that i do not know if i have an account and if the license is registered. i was able to create a new account and then tried to logon to the old one with user and pass i had in my password file. now viasat is giving me the following message and it can be hours before i can try again. does machspoort really have an outdated credential or whatever?

i have the license file and the PCID do i have to logon to an account that has mach4 registered to it because that dos not seem to be possible. i tried another browser and that did not help.

Is there any record of an account for Spencer Chase, spencoid spencer@...? i want to try logging on but get the fucking message below. is there a non secure version of the site?

mach4 is working great but i am trying to plan for the eventual computer failure.

it looks like (could actually get to Machsupport finally) i do not have any account although i am sure i had one at some time. it might be mach3 i am thinking of. anyway i have a PCID and a matching license file. Is it possible to use these to add my product to my newly created account?

i can send the license file privately but do not want to send it to the group. I guess I never registered it because I did not have an account? I would like to do so now. Can not find anything in email from Brian about doing this. Was probably less than a year ago but I am horrible with dates.
