Bill,

Lookahead is a means to an end. The first being the ability to
implement cutte diameter compensation; but that takes only two blocks
(as long as there aren't any non-motion blocks beween 'em!) for this
reason many older commercial controls had a 5 block lookahead. Many
of these are still cutting parts today.

But the REAL important end being CVV, Constant Vector Velocity. I
think you'll find Mach to be the equal--or better-- than MANY
commercial controls in this area... (and it keeps getting more
refined with each release!)
