Art,
Down loads page showing V2.0 as lockdown and 3.5 as development Last help file is 11/02/2003. I have deleted temp internet files and updated the page but still shows old one. Don't think it's my computer as I downloaded the development V 4.0 about 4 days ago OK so if anything cache should show this. Be a good lad and have a look please - if you have a millisecond. Brian:
I did put it in the R4.0 release. Its strange because mine seems to work properly. The test I sent you tracks the rotational acceleration and the lines accelerate very slowly even thought the X has a sharp accel ramp set. Can you send me your XML file so I can see if that makes it screw up for me..?? Thanks, Art |

Rab:
Yes, I did find the problem, it was when the layout was loaded a call was made to GetParent()->Invalidate(); while this works for C, the call to GetParent() was invalid for VB applications. I have changed it to FromHandle(GetAppHandle())->Invalidate()); which works fine. It will be out this week in the next general release. Thanks, Art |
G2002 vs. G2003
I am nearly totally ignorant when it comes to electronics, so if
someone could give me a very basic explanation to the following questions it would be a great help. 1. What will the G2003 do that the G2002 won't? 2. What will the G2002 do that the G2003 won't? 3. Which of the two can someone like myself get into the most trouble with? 4. How do the purchase prices compare? 5. Should someone purchase the G2002 when the G2003 is so close to being a complete package? Thanks for helping me understand. Don |

I guess I am thinking to much small , home shop stuff, when in fact Mach2
has a great use in the larger machines as well. As to the parrallel port, my daughters computer fried its port and I told her to go to Best Buy and get a PCI parrallel port card- they laughed at her- then found one for about $80. I guess the end of the parallel port is near. I think the G2002 at $350 is going to be hard to take for home shop guys when the DeskCNC controller board is $50. I know the G2002 is MUCH more capable, and I guess for a while yet we can still get parallel ports for the home shop world. A 3 axis G2002 for $125 or so would be a very nice device. No need to prolong this thread- there is clearly a need for the G2002 and I will buy one as soon as there is software for it. Art, you havent mentioned the OCX recently- is that revision still on your plate? Ive got a full interactive Mill program ready to run as soon as I can get an OCX. ron |
4th axis accel problem
barker806
I have tested the a axis a bit more and I can see it is still not
working. You had said that you were going to change the code for the Next release. I think there was a release (4Dev to 4Rel) did this have the little fix you were putting in?? If it did I will do more testing to see if I can tell you more about what is going on. Thank you for your time Brian PS. I don't need the 4th axis for a job I am only trying to help debug (Not trying to drive you nuts or bitch ;o) ) |

C V V wasRe: "Look Ahead"
Bill,
Lookahead is a means to an end. The first being the ability to implement cutte diameter compensation; but that takes only two blocks (as long as there aren't any non-motion blocks beween 'em!) for this reason many older commercial controls had a 5 block lookahead. Many of these are still cutting parts today. But the REAL important end being CVV, Constant Vector Velocity. I think you'll find Mach to be the equal--or better-- than MANY commercial controls in this area... (and it keeps getting more refined with each release!) Tool set switch
Art or anyone, I have made a switch appratus to set the tool length
within the program or through a macro. My problem is I don't know how to write macro's nor do I know how to set the switch settings to get the program to do what I want. So here goes with what I want to achive. At the x0.0y0.0 on my table I want to be able to have the machine lower the tool onto the switch, move up a given amount from that point and then automatically set the z dro to 0.0. Can this be accomplished and if so does it need to be a macro? By doing this the tip of each tool will be at the same point over the table and in so doing will make my setup time much shorter. I only run 1 part runs at a time and may have as many as 5-6 tool changes. Since I don't have atc this causes quite a bit of time at the machine setting the tool offset. Mike |

Art
By the way:
You know he has 4 ft of snow and probablyI don't know if I mentioned it but as of next Saturday I will be gone to the Mexican Riviera to remove myself from all this hurricane damaged, snow covered landscape, and prove to myself and my doubting wife that "Yes , Virginia, there is SUN and heat somewhere in this world.". I will be away for 7 hot days and 7 balmy nights. Should any of you end up down in mexico, look for the overweight, balding, grey haired, confused and drunk old bastard flaked out in the hamock under a palm tree muttering to himself. Hopefully when I return I will be refreshed and ready to complete the conversational addon package interface. (For some reason this particular upgrade exites me, its possibilities are astounding if you really think about it.....) Anyway, you got a week left to bitch at me before I'm too drunk and sunburnt to care. Buenas Nochas, Art |

Re: Art in your spare time!!!
Greg I hope I didn't offend you by my post. I was really trying to
give Art a moment to smile. You know he has 4 ft of snow and probably needs to take a break ever now and then. I also really meant my compliment to him and his support. If it had not been for his being willing to talk me thru so very many problems on the ph I never would have finished my retrofit and would be out of business by now. My only real wish right now for the Mach2 is the 2003 interface.
