MIA from 6th
4
Just got email I am to check in on the 6th March and operation early morning 7th. I am going to take my iPhone with me if allowed. We are in three day lockdown and Brisbane declared a hot spot with new cases to do with funding re Covid. So I am thinking the dates for the hospital might be a moving thing in the circumstances, but I am to sign forms and send back so working on all systems are go anyway. Have warned my husband he might have to drop me off and wont be able to visit and he said he realised that but not happy. I have a surgeon friend who works at the hospital and she said she is going to visit me when she's on which is kind. Meantime twiddling thumbs and still waiting for Apple to produce that iPad Pro :-) Jude PS Hope you're feeling a bit better John.

Hawk Crash
3
Saw on the BBC news about a Hawk Fighter crash in the South West. Thank Goodness, no one was seriously hurt. The pilots will have to have spinal X-rays because of the g-forces involved. I have heard cases of RAF officers staying with the plane & dying, to be sure it didn't hit any civilians. How professional can you get? John

Fighter ejection
4
Was down in Exeter, when I did my PhD, & there was a lady came on the local news. Reported about a pilot. I think she meant to say he was able to eject safely. What she actually said was he: "He managed to ejaculate safely" Don't know if she was born a dame, or by one by marriage She clearly was a lady John

Chris, it wasn't gutsy. It was phenomenal. They knew they could end in a life raft in the Atlantic & die, but they all said: "We go on." John

might be MIA for a bit post Easter
4
I am scheduled for surgery right after Easter so I might be MIA for a few days. Long story, but it started with an unusual eye symptom. I have been proactive in my own case through some hitches and differing opinions along the way. Have good surgeon who is going to sort out my right carotid. Fingers crossed. Still awaiting the new iPad Pro from Apple which would keep me amused in downtime. Jude

The fugitive
Watching that movie now. Not many people know but it's based on a true story. A Dr was convicted of murdering his wife. Blood spatter analysis finally cleared him John

A very sad story
2
Another member of the Whitney Houston family lost: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-56495122 Cocaine & alcohol is a very dangerous mix, add an opiate in, well what do you expect? My best friend's wife is a GP & she said there is nothing we can for opiate addicts when they break a leg. I must say the 20 mg of morphine + Entonox when I broke my leg didn't seem to do much. It was a good job there was a very attractive lady registrar there, so "I manned up" & didn't scream the hospital down! The other male registrar said: "This may hurt a bit." The orthopedic nurse gave me the true story: "This will hurt a lot." John

changes since Covid
3
Have you all found things you used to do on the computer have changed during Covid ? In my case lots of stuff ceased amongst the bellydancers - so communication abruptly died and some translated to doing stuff in Zoom but not successfully really. As a result there was no web page updating or posters and flyers etc. The girls seem to have translated themselves to Facebook and web pages became static so I trimmed them right back to the point of being easy to take down. Just a token presence really. I am handing back things to let other people get on with them. Even a lot of slides and diagrams I was doing has gone by the by with no international conferences on and everything that goes on Zoom has naturally to be simplified....doesn't really lend itself to some things on screen when you know people are viewing on iPhones and iPads etc. As I am in the retired category and no longer out to work, I am looking about to find myself something interesting to do for myself that I might find absorbing instead of doing things for other people. I have just about decided to buy the next iPad Pro and teach myself art on it and who knows where that might go - or not. Might be able to value add on that idea. I used to draw a lot as a child and painted watercolours so I see it as a bit of a throwback. My late stepfather used to buy me Eagle comics and things like that as he liked the illustrations and I was always drawing - I think I was his excuse for buying them. The local Mac group are trying to get me interested in taking over the club website - I have been resisting on the basis the guy who built now is now deceased and its hanging on by a thread, and pull the wrong thread and it could all collapse and is showing signs it could be about to break. It was all coded and there's lots of php behind it. It started doing something odd the other day and I have been communicating with the hosting to try to sort it out for them as to reason things are happening but the advice seems to be various things have not been updated and running old php etc and maybe start again with WP. I am doing my best to avoid it. I don't want to be the one in charge when the empire collapses :-) I have done my share of retrieving web sites when people have paid good money and the site walks along with the person who built it but I am doing my best to swerve this one at the moment. Photos taken on my iPhone XR
6
I thought taking photos with my phone would be simple. I take the pic, use AirDrop to transfer it to my 16in MacBook Pro, running Catalina, also, separately, to my 27in iMac that runs High Sierra. I then drag and drop, from whichever Mac I am using, onto our Primary network drive. The problem starts when I try to copy from either Mac to post it on Facebook. I get told that the original cannot be found, so I can¡¯t copy the copy that I want to copy! If I use my digital camera and do the same thing, it works without complaining. Do you have any ideas what I am doing wrong? Best Susan
