Dear All, I've posted this question to anumber of sites/people, but can't seem to get anywhere. I've gone round & round for 3 weeks. For over 10 years I had an Elgato EyeTV stick, which connected to my iMac, then to the roof aerial, so I could record TV on my iMac. The company (Elgato), I gather, has been taken over & customer service seems to have gone downhill. I wondered if anyone knows of any hardware like this, that can take a coaxial aerial & then connect to my iMac by USB 2 or 3, to give me TV (preferably HD Freeview) on my iMac. iMac details: iMac Pro, 3GHz 10-core Intel Xeon W, 64 GB 2666 MHz DDR4 memory, Radeon Pro Vega 64X 16 GB, or if you know a supplier who does? Seen a few variants on this technology, but no one seems to be able to tell me if it work with a 64 bit mac. John

Geniatech took over EyeTv - they have made 64 bit software which I downloaded. Old serial number for version three doesn’t work with version 4 - you have to buy. But I am reading people paid and didn’t get serial number and people who paid and got serial. Any get it to work. No new EyeTv gizmos being produced becoming rare as fairies.
I do use mine - I like tv running on my screen while working and recently have recorded programs edited and burned to DVD for locals who gave starred in programs.
I’m looking for a solution but not been able to get answers out of Genuatech and I have tried.

I think it's fair to say I've done some searching, but am still not (entirely) any the wiser. Perhaps this market is in a state of flux. Read (somewhere, don't quote me on this, that Elgato tried to expand, perhaps unwisely) & got bought out. May be a case of: "Fools rush in, where angels fear to tread." Regards John

John, I had an Elgato a long while ago. It was an EyeTV. Ran very well on my iMac. That’s back when iMacs were thick and silver. Now I run everything through multiple Apple TV’s. 1 newer Apple TV HD in my room. One a little bit older Apple TV HD in hubby’s room and the Apple TV 4K in the living room. We have Hulu with live streaming, Netflix and free Apple TV+. We have an HD indoor antenna for over air tv.? ? \ ? ? \ ?/\? ? ? ( ? ) ? ? ? ? ? ?Alice ?.( ? ? ?). ?lwr32@...

You’re getting the wrong end of the stick John. There are gizmos to buy out there but the problem us software is not 64 bit. At least Geniatech has had a go.
It’s the software is the critical thing not the hardware. No use looking at things that require scart- there’s no scart inlets on the back of a Mac.
Who on earth wants to record to an iPad - watch maybe.... but then what. IPads only run cut down versions of any software.
Maybe we just have to come to grips with technology galloping and keep old Macs going for old stuff we like and want to use. I don’t know for sure but I think the newer systems not friendly to partitioning drives to run old systems any more.

It's tough, because I really loved exploring. I really loved seeing Montreal, Quebec, a UNESCO site, the Carolinas & I was hoping to see the other continents, but now, because of seizures it would cost more than the airfare. I guess Ayer's Rock will have to be virtual. Kilimanjaro, just a hope

Ayers Rock has ended up being virtual for a lot of travellers. It gets roped off. Friend took mother and on the day they went there the indigenous people said no. There’s always Google Earth - you have to access that now via web browser- old earth now defunct.

Maybe we just have to come to grips with technology galloping and keep old Macs going for old stuff we like and want to use. I don’t know for sure but I think the newer systems not friendly to partitioning drives to run old systems any more.

Talking of partitioning drives, have we been having fun (NOT) today with my iMac! ?I have a Boot Camp partition on which I run Windows 10 and play EverQuest but I’ve been getting warnings that I have only 2% free space on my Windows area. After I backed up, twice, my iMac’s drive (running Mojave) Harvey began to see if he could just swap (as it were) a larger Boot Camp space for the smaller one. Two hours later…. ?It now looks as though we have repartitioned the iMac’s drive and tomorrow shall be (we hope) using WinClone to put my W10 back, then I shall have to see what all that has done to my EverQuest installation. There seem to have been a lot of changes to the Mac OS, making it much less obvious what to do for something like that. No more, “It just works”…. ?/sigh Best Susan

It's tough, because I really loved exploring. I really loved seeing Montreal, Quebec, a UNESCO site, the Carolinas & I was hoping to see the other continents, but now, because of seizures it would cost more than the airfare. I guess Ayer's Rock will have to be virtual. Kilimanjaro, just a hope
