Whats up with Safari

I can type something in the url bar as a search and I end up with a weird message --- put the same search into Edge or Firefox and it goes search straight away. I've seen this several times.?

That is a new one on me, Jude. ?Is it to do with your machine being a Pro and finding stuff is beneath its dignity? :D

Local reckons screen time is switched on - I never turned it on so I’ll have to go find how to turn off in Prefs. Must have done it when I went to Monterey us all I can think.?

You might need to clear your caches, Jude.

In fact, if you try Onyx it will do that for you, if you like. ?It’s a great file maintenance application, one which I run if any of my applications stops working properly – probably because of a file glitch.

It’s at?

My mother (88 with dementia) runs it from time to time, when I prompt her . . .

Thinking about it, I do sometimes get a rejection message on my iPad Air 2022 model while playing Words With Friends 2.?

I copied everything over from my old iPad Air but I seem to have lost my identity completely for WWF2, which is annoying. I had prizes and facilities which have all disappeared.

My problem with the weird message apparently was to do with “screen time” — which somehow got switched on - I certainly didn’t do it. Not catering to children here. Maybe the Monterey install did it. Switched the damned thing off…sorted.

Going back to the original subject, Safari is now one of the cleverer browsers, I believe. Tracking is blocked and security is switched on. I have the “VPN” beta activated and I use Hide me Email with it and iCloud.

And I have a new iPad Air, a delightful device. My wife has my previous model (which was running out of storage) but she might want to revert to a mini, in which case I’ll sell it and buy her a new mini.

We have summer here now, in Dorset. Off to Minterne Gardens for a fête in aid of the RNLI. I expect that you’re in late autumn, Jude . . .

Safari is dropping behind. Annoyingly it won’t open the DNA map on Ancestry and the other day Ancestry had something new showing where either parent DNA originated - wouldn’t open that either. Edge, Firefox etc has no trouble.

Yes getting colder - big weather event expected - again. Got supplies in in case we get cut off again for a few days. Got fireplace set just in case we need to fry the house out.

We cower in a little terraced house when it gets cold, so no insulation needed on either side!

You sound like me. I have been complaining about Safari for a while. It really annoys me it is not able to produce the DNA map on Ancestry --- I have to go to Firefox or MS Edge to get that to work for me.?
Various things it just will not due any more. Its been neutered somehow.

I was on Ancestry for a while but it’s our daughter who is more interested; I just provided some data that she asked for, via a DNA kit. ?As for Safari, yes, it does seem to be off its oats. Have you used Brave? I haven’t so far but Computeractive is quite keen on it. I’m using DuckDuckGo more for searches and feel very bold! ?:D?
