God -- that log in screen !! !@#$%^&!!

I updated my iMac Pro to Big Sur --- hell --- why did none of you warn me about that ugly log in screen !!!! I almost had to go to the loo to chuck.
I've tried everything I know to change that godawful colour screen to my own photo -- once I click on name to log in it changes to what I have chosen now -- but honestly that is such a shock to open your Mac and see that first thing in the morning. ?I feel a letter to Tim Cook coming on !!!

Am thinking about changing machines now, but I am not yet comfortable with Big Sur. I currently have a hi spec machine but it is too old to accept Big Sur.."?.

Answer is on here -?

I think I have figured that godawful login screen Big Sur -- I have studied husband's Mac I updated and it doesn't give that eye shocking result - puts ?up picture he chose (one I took) -- I think the difference is he has single user on it and I have a log in for him on mine - so if I throw him off - technically speaking I should just see my chosen picture. I don't want American rubbish on my machine. If I pay for it I want what I want on it :-)?

So far so good. Discovered something odd.... ye old HP scanner stopped working ...thought "ah hah new driver"...it said it detected a tick earlier number of system than the one I just upgraded to - I selected the right one and the driver didn't work --- so I went back and put it back to the number HP site thought it was and downloaded that and we are working again. ?Now could that be do you think because the next version is meant for an m1 chipped Mac?? ?Curious.

When I updated I think this MBPro to Catalina I was faced with a pink screen - is that the colour or have they changed it? ?I was desperately asking online how to change it but no luck. I have one of my own photos as login screen. ?I am immune to the colour by now but pink!!!!!!! ?OK, is it a hint from Tim, do you suppose? ?:D
Best

I have it figured. Apple has done something with this Big Sur system where part of the system is "locked away" - and I think that is where they put that godawful log in picture.
I put my own picture into the right folder and named it according to what it should have replaced. So I was finding the moment I clicked on my login my own chosen background picture appeared. So deduced from that that if you have more than one log in on a Mac you will get that rainbow crap show up -- yes Tim Cook is going to get an email from me -- so I threw my husband's log in off --- and hey presto peace reigns. Yeah -- woman defeats technology again.?

Hi Jude

I don’t mind the bright colours, but I have changed it to my Desktop Picture using the Apple/Lock Screen technique described here:

I did all that stuff — but if you have more than one log in you get that godawful screen - so have thrown husband off — not that he used it anyway ?:-)
