Hot hot hot

 

It got to 34deg C by 10am today and humidity north of 70%. It’s got down to 24c at 10pm. Lightning about and thunder rolling - was hoping for a bit of a cool down.

I can’t really get into games bar quick puzzles. I get more out of something creative.

Right at the moment no one is needing posters and flyers. Have tackled a couple of complicated MS Office things. I’ve suggested to Pete I set up a Wordpress blog for him. He used to write a daily newspaper column. I’m not exactly detecting huge enthusiasm :-)

Today they did first covid vax in Aus. The Astra Zeneca one yet to appear. Is going to be made here and has to pass TGA certification. Anyway they stabbed some old dears in nursing homes, some nurses, some police who are minding quarantine hotels.

I saw on the news, Jude, that there are some people who resent the vaccination, shouting about coercion. ?Is the vaccination programme a mandatory one?

I had my first one last week, but had a call from the Medical Centre at my parent RAF station this morning to check if I had been offered a vaccine. ?I was half hoping that the flight sergeant on the phone was about to offer me a second dose . . .

They can hardly make it mandatory but there has been talk of limitations etc for non vaccinated people like travel or jobs ... that gets people riled. PM encouraging everyone to make a you gov au account where medical history will be kept available.?

I am not against vaccinations but I myself will not be queuing because of my food intolerances and reactions to prescribed medicines and anaphylactic episodes. It started with a raging pencillin allergy and has got worse over the years. I have never had a flu vax - but then I’ve never had the flu. Last time my husband drove me to hospital covered in hives and swelling up ?I was on a drip for 2 hrs because I’m allergic to the propellant in cortisone injections. Medical opinion so far seems to think for me it’s a no.?

The news about the AZ vaccine seems to be better and better; I’m glad that I’ve had it.

Astra Zeneca is to be made here in Australia in Australian labs but then has to pass tests and registration in Australia. More Pfizer vaccine arrived in Australia today. But PM said he always knew there would never be enough for down here. So that’s why they’re taking the path they have. We’re in the sub tropics to tropics so vaccine that doesn’t need same refrigeration is the right choice.?

Our conditions are much different.?

I will keep across latest ideas down here.?

Our accountant told us today his wife had a flu shot only recently and ended up in intensive care and nearly died. That’s why I don’t do it.?

He has some immune problems to do with a form of arthritis and on weekly injections but he’s sweating on covid vax. He can have mine ??♀??

I just don’t know what to think of the situation with people who cannot have a vaccination, as opposed to the anti-vaxxers. I don’t want to be mean and all that but, if I go into the supermarket or shop, dutifully wearing my mask, someone who is excused wearing it, quite legitimately, could easily be spreading infection all around. Some of them seem to think their excuse for not wearing one is the same as wearing one and they can go as close to others as they like, if you see what I mean. What is your take on this?

Ouch! That is awful! I am lucky in that I don’t seem to have allergies, although tobacco smoke gives me headaches but that is so rare these days.

There are people who are asthmatic or using oxygen etc where a mask is not appropriate or practical.

I discussed vax or no vax with GP as regards my issues of allergies and intolerances and anaphylactic reactions and I asked in the middle of the discussion if he was going to have one and he said it came down to personal choice.?

My neurologist chap is immune compromised he said so will be doing it but said I would have to rely on herd immunity with my history.?

In Australia there has been good acceptance of mask wearing and distancing when govt. says so. Some stores have signs no mask no entry.?

But when it comes down to it it’s up to you to police you for your own benefit, not police everyone else. That’s how I look at it. ?So on that basis when required we wear a mask. Currently this is not the case but we still abide by the distancing rules and do electronic checkin ( I came across one place that had check-in and check-out for iPhone ... that was new.?

I limit visits to stores and limit time I am there. I only shop about every ten days. If anyone is showing signs of coughing or flu I move away or leave.?

I’ve never had a flu vax and I’ve never had the flu.?

If I need a tetanus jab or anything GP sends me off for blood test first to test my immunity so I don’t have to risk anything I don’t need.?

The Pfizer vaccine seems to have the least allergic reactions if I recall correctly so if you need a vaccine I think that's the one you should go for. I've got hellish chest pains. I think it's referred pain from the compression fractures in my spine, but who knows? Never smoked, but have been known to drink
