Re: Hi
Well what I meant Tag is I think things have generally gotten worse over the years. Sniping was at one time considered unchilvarous. By the 1st world war, things had gotten worse with machine guns, as well as sniping & chemical weapons. Used off & on since. Bombing used to try to be confined to military targets but that went out the window & I think things have got worse since. I think this has spread to the civilian side too. 50 years ago zero hour contracts would not be considered, but that was what I was on at NTU. I had to cover a lab class for free on Friday mornings. For goodness sakes look what Priti Patel is proposing as regards demostrations. John

Re: Hi
Well, to be honest, I think things have gone downhill since around World War One. Before then you had to face a man in "Honest combat". Sword to Sword, or pistol to pistol. I know massacres went on before then. The Russian pogroms for example, but Suleiman, spared the Christian Civilians in war, whereas Richard the Lion Heart had no such mercy. World war one saw machine gunning & use of chemical weapons. It was an error of the Nazi's to drop bombs on Civilian London, but that lead to firebombing of Dresden & Coventry. Hiroshima & Nagasaki. Well, now we've seen the poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko with Polonium 210 & the Skripals with Novichok. It seems that there is no end now to humans mercilessness in warfare or politics. I despair. Einstein said: "Whilever there are men, there will be war". Which is not true, Women can engage in warfare too, it's just less common. Aileen Wuornos. Sad, but true John

I guess I am really getting older. 10 years back, I helped a man in a wheelchair get out of a rut in the pavement. With his wife it was a case of "1,2,3 go!" Now I wonder if someone will be fetching me a stick. I've got to get to work on my fitness in a few weeks time, or I think things will go badly!!! I could lift Chris & run with him 20 miles. Now I wonder if he could take me 2 metres. John
